The McGowan's took him almost everywhere they went as a family. This treat for the small babe was stopped after one fateful night when his father realized that his newborn babe attracted vampires, which seemed to coo and awe in wonder at the child. It was this time that Rezp was nicknamed "The Innocent" by the vampires which had seen him. After that night Rezp was kept on the estate land. Funloving, playful, and charismatic the servants which he spent his day with fell in love with the lad. By the time he was 16 and graduating from Home Schooling he not only was learned in the ways of what the world viewed as scholarly material but he also could dance almost any style from ballet to breakdancing, could play several instruments, knew three languages, an athelete in several sports, etc... in short he had become the Renaissance man his parents wanted him to be.

Rezp; however, was by no means a spoiled child. Though the family was very wealthy due to past savings and title, the parents made sure to instill a hard work ethic in Rezp. They raised him on chivalric virtues and girded him with Godly teachings and moral beliefs. Thus when he was accepted to UVA (the college of his choice), his parents weren't as worried because he had honorable character. The only thing they did have qualms about was his lack of experience out in the real world where he would have temptations for the first time. (plus he would be open to vampires again) The year after college Rezp went through two crushing experiences. The death of his mother due to pneumonia and his father committing suicide infront of him because his father had been embraced by a vampire. That was the longest night of his life, and one that changed his life forever. Rezp "The Innocent" was for the first time introduced to a new world filled with vampires, demons, etc.. Things he thought were myths now were reality and were soon to be a very important part of his life.
