Giovanni D'Amico
(aka Gianfranco Giovanni Troisi)

Dr. Gio D'Amico - the famed and feared Di Nerezza family interrogator - has a secret that he's been keeping for the last seventeen years. A secret that he knows could very easily take away every bit of power and legend he has created for himself over the last two decades, and could very well get him killed.

His real name is Giovanni Troisi.

Gio Troisi is the eldest of the surviving Troisi Watchers, and the only surviving Watcher of Marcello Troisi's family. He is a friendly and kind-hearted man, always the first to be ready with a smile or a laugh. He loves the night-life, good food, good wine and good company and is excellent, entertaining company himself if you be a friend. But if not you will see a completely different side to Gio, because he is also one of the most ruthless killers the Troisi family (or any other for that matter) has ever seen. At 37, he is a veteran of the game and a brilliant fighter. There are many who fear his name.

When Gio was 19 he decided that he wanted to be a doctor and went off to Paris to study medicine, leaving behind Watching for the time being. To make sure that the Council couldn't hound him while he studied, he created an alter-ego, Giovanni D'Amico, with the help of some of the family's more unscrupulous friends, and it is under this name that he has lived ever since. Because the Andrasta didn't know who he was, they passed over him in the slaughter. When Gio found out almost his entire family was dead, Gio swore that he would keep the family dynasty going. He graduated from Med school and went back to Italy to train under his alias. His mentor from the Council didn't even know who he was and the legend of Gio D'Amico began to take shape.

During his years as a Slayer, Giovanni has kept up relations with the Di Nerezza family - trying to keep alive his family's close ties with the clan. He has worked for them for over ten years and they are, in his eyes, his adoptive family. He's never met Canio, but he knows quite a few of his children and grandchildren and considers many friends, and many of them concider him their equal.

Gio doesn't even try to pretend to be a legitimate Watcher anymore. He's corrupt ... he knows it ... he doesn't care ... vampires pay better anyways, but he *is* a Slayer. His position allows him much free time and during this free time he still acts like a proper vampire slayer .... hunting and stalking those who hunt the night.

He is very powerful within both the Forty and the Di Nerezza circles because of his expertise in the arts of interrogation and torture. He does still work for the Forty when he thinks the cause is just and is just as ruthless with their captives as the Di Nerezza, but he will not torture or kill a Di Nerezza. That is his one and only rule.

Gio's genius is in knowing that it's the slow pain that makes them talk. Gio is one of the Di Nerezza's top interrogators in the whole of Europe and he uses his medical knowledge to make one's time with him all the more painful and drawn out, and he takes a bit of a perverse pleasure in trying out new chemical concoctions and tinctures on his victims. His name is feared by vampires and humans alike, and he carries a lot of clout within both organizations.

Gio lives with his cousin Beatrice in their apartment in little Italy and keeps his 'lab' in the basement - keeping th landlord quiet with equal doses of Troisi cash and threats on his life. When he isn't working, Gio is a rather nice guy and he is even the god-father of Bea's son Antony. The two cousins have decided to make a name for their family in the new world and hope to do so with the help of the Troisi Mother - Domina ..... once they can actually get to her.
