Millicent Di Nerezza

Older than Aurelia... older than Angelita, the vampiress called Millicent was embraced sometime around 400 BC. Who she was in her first life, what she was, where she was born and the name given to her then have all been lost to the mists of time.

Millicent cannot even remember her sire. Her first memory is of herself, her brother Acteon and their two sisters with their limbs drenched in blood and their bodies on fire as they ran from what had been a small town in Macedonia. In the earliest days of the Di Nerezza, they were a true menace... Some of the first to truly feel the effects of the demon within them. Millicent - who at the time was going by the name Megaera - was an angel of death to all who crossed her path. For almost three hundred years, she and her three siblings cut a swath across the known world, feeding their demons with thousands of lives, and learning the pleasures of the freedom of mindless killing. The rush that shot through their cold limbs like hot silvery snakes when they saw that look in their victims' eyes. The bond between the four siblings that grew to encompass everything the more kills they shared. Megaera and her siblings soaked up every experience, every moment, every lesson like starving children. Learning to let their demons rule... learning to become vampire.

Then, some time around 100 BC, tragedy struck the small family. They were in Babylon, taking a rest from the carnage after leaving a blood-soaked trail all the way from Thebes, when they were attacked. They were taken completely by surprise, and Megaera and Acteon could not save their sisters. Forced to run, the two raced their way through the city... Their hunters always only a few steps behind. For a week they hid, running from one shadow to another. Finally Megaera and Acteon were able to catch one of the men who had slaughtered their sisters and they tortured him until he told them everything. He and his compatriots were - of course - all members of what was then the very earliest incarnation of the Watchers, and they had been following the family's bloody trail for decades. From that point on, Megaera's focus turned to the Hunters, and she and Acteon were actually quite instrumental in the early sect's near eradication.

The two surviving siblings continued to sweep their bloody way across Persia, Greece and Rome together until sometime around 140 AD when Acteon was taken by Hunters. It did not take long for Megaera to find more of the young clan Di Nerezza, but her heart was not in creating a new family. She stayed with her kind though, and was there when Angelita was made... And when she, in turn, made Aurelia.

Over the centuries and millennia that have passed since her brother's death, she has changed her name a hundred times but for the last few centuries, the fine-boned vampiress has been known as Millicent.

Unlike the younger members of those they call 'ancient', Millicent does not hide in the shadows like a ghost. She keeps herself well informed on the passings and doings within her clan and takes an active position within its members. She does not understand how younger ones like Aurelia and Angelita could take such passive positions in a clan that they helped give birth to. During the clan wars, she fought for the young Canio, believing him the true King and - unlike many of the ancients - backing it up.

Millicent is not afraid to enforce what she believes with violence, and she still thrives on the rush of the kill. The name may have changed, but the demon that once called itself by the name of the Furies is still a force to be reckoned with. Any clan that causes trouble for the vampiress or her kin will soon find that out... For Millicent the Ancient is reunited with the King of the Di Nerezza.
