Full Storyline

Everywhere Piper looks there are reminders of the joys of matrimony. Since her own wedding is going to be far from her ideal, this does nothing but depress her. Back home Phoebe and Prue are trying on glasses to watch the upcoming solar eclipse with. Leo arrives with bad news: The Powers That Be are going to assign the Halliwells a new White Lighter within a day. Unless he and Piper manage to secretly marry before then they will be separated.

Meanwhile Kit has an owl cornered on the front porch. But this is no ordinary owl; it turns into a good looking bloke right before the girls' eyes. He is rather surprised that the Halliwells are so blasé about his transformation, but refuses their offer of supernatural assistance and runs off before they can force it on him. In his human form he makes his way to his former workplace where he tries to kill his boss, the sorcerer responsible for the spell on him. Thwarted by one of the Boss' evil minions, he makes his getaway. The Boss orders him to be hunted down and killed.

While shopping for books on how to get married in secret, Phoebe and Piper bump into Cole (himself after books on forensic psychology) who uses his magic to switch bags with the girls. Back at the Manor, there is nothing in The Book of Shadows about part-time owls, but Piper does find a ritual called "Handfasting" which could be the solution to her and Leo's problem. Phoebe however is against using the ritual, accusing Piper of selfishness and warning that there could be serious repercussions if they use it to try to deceive The Powers That Be.

Holding a leftover owl feather gives Phoebe a premonition and helps them track down Owl Guy. At first it seems he is in danger from a wolf but it is in fact his lover and at dawn she reverts to human form while he turns into an owl again, giving them only the briefest of moments together. Piper realises she and Leo aren't the only ones with obstacles in the way of their relationship! With some prompting the girl, Brooke, tells the Charmed Ones the whole story. She rejected Christopher's boss and he cast the spell on them out of jealousy. Christopher narrowly escapes an attempt on his owl life by the boss' minion, who then tries to fool the boss with a dead owl in sack. He is fired (literally!) on the spot.

Back at the manor Phoebe gets an attic visit from Grandma who talks her around to Piper's Handfasting plan. The replacement assassin is more successful and wounds the owl with an arrow. Leo is summoned but cannot heal Christopher while he is not in human form. In the middle of all this Cole arrives at the front door to swap book bags and has to be stalled. Leo is introduced to him and Cole can tell by shaking his hand that he is a White Lighter. We also learn that Cole has a detachable shadow which can go off about its dark business leaving him free to pursue other things!

Brooke has gone to the Boss' office to offer herself to him if he will reverse the spell. The eclipse arrives and Christopher assumes human form. The eclipse is the right time to perform the Handfasting out of sight of TPTB, but Piper chooses to help Brooke and Christopher first. He and the sisters go to the office and storm in. The Boss is vanquished and Christopher and Brooke will hopefully live happily ever after! Then it's back to the manor for the Handfasting, which is going just fine, until Leo is twinkled away at the crucial moment, leaving Piper to say AAAAARGH! In the last scene we see Cole making his report to his evil masters and it seems he was the one who grassed Leo up to TPTB. Rotter!

Was it just me or...

The eclipse creates the conditions of night so Christopher turns into his night-time self: human. Why doesn't Brooke turn into her night-time self: a wolf? It wouldn't have harmed the story, she could have eaten the boss and it all would have made more sense!
