| THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA SECOND PART |
| 14)Immaculate Perception -to take or want nothing from anything >except to be allowed to lie prostrate before them like a mirror with 100 eyes -it is bad to only want to look and observe things without taking part in them -he who wants to create beyond himself has the purest will -beauty is in the creation of new things >new real things, not just to be seen >to use your will completely and totally to act on/in life -if you will to love, then you must also be willing to die >the outcome is not what is important >the importance comes in the action and the acting and the willing 15)Scholars -Z disdains scholars -thinks that they spend too much time thinking and observing >too little time interacting in the real world -scholars attempt to avoid the danger of real life by remaining comfortably within the halls of academia >free to ponder without the entanglements of getting involved 16)Poets -some kind of regret/disdain for poets -poets lie in order to make that which is ordinary appear deep to spectators -poets believe that they re privy to some sort of secret knowledge when they write -sometimes there are exceptional ones -poets are like peacocks 17)Great Events -Z encounters a fire hound -one of the diseases on the skin of the earth is man -fire hound: spews hot ash and noise >makes a lot of noise and show >makes itself sound greater and more important and potent than it really is -compares church to fire hound >likewise, downplays importance of money and those who extol its importance and place in the world 18)Soothsayer -(nothing to add, not sure of meaning) 19)Redemption -it is not good to be very good at one thing and ignore all other aspects of yourself >is called an inverse cripple *too much of one thing >too many people define themselves by one part/one aspect -the greatest frustration to the will is that the will cannot change or alter that which has already happened -revenge: the will acting out in frustration because it cannot change the past -revenge creates the concept of punishment to condone its actions >to make the acts of revenge OK >a good conscience -existence is ruled by the fact that no deed can be undone >that the past is immutable -the will should redeem itself rather than try and go back and change the unchangeable 20)Human Prudence -allow yourself to be open to people >dont close yourself off in order to avoid being deceived -open yourself up to man that you have an anchor to ground yourself while still reaching and striving to be the overman >otherwise, you will get swept away in the attempt >remember where you came from, where you started at when you became -be without caution >dont strive to achieve for lofty heights while being picky about how you do it >be open to whatever may assist you in your goals -do not shy away from the evils of the world >there are many wonderful things in those who are evil >good things can be born out of evil 21)The Stillest Hour -it is the stillest words that bring on the storm >dew falls on the grass when the night is most silent -become as a child and without shame >dont concern yourself with other peoples opinions of you >dont try to move mountains or valleys >just do -not good to have the power to rule, yet choose not to rule |
