Ioannes Ruckers (1578-1642) was the
eldest son of Hans Ruckers'
children to survive into adulthood, the heir to the
Ruckers' tradition and probably the greatest of the
members of the harpsichord- and virginal building
family. In 1604 he would have taken over the running
of the family home and the workshop at the age of 26.
The 1624
Ioannes Ruckers is not signed by the Ruckers.
But the records of the de Sade
family, who owned the harpsichord until
recently, indicate that there has been a Ruckers
harpsichord among the family's effects since the
eighteenth century.
Famous
Musicians like Chambonnieres, dŽAnglebert,
Forqueray, Händel, und Armand Louis
Couperin Owned Instruments
from Ruckers/Couchet and Many Courts.
The Atelier of the Painter/Diplomat
Peter Paul Rubens was in
the Same Street in Antwerp: many Ruckers
Instruments have Paintings on the Lid
from Rubens!
(And this is One of the Reasons, why
about 60 Harpsichords of Ruckers/Couchet
have Survived and have not been Burned.)
Because of his Political Activities, it
is Obvious, that P.P.Rubens made for the
Ruckers/Couchet Good Connections to Other
Courts.
Stradivarius
Violins were Faked and
Counterfeited in the Hopes of Deceiving
some Hapless Client.
The Value of a Ruckers Harpsichord 1740
in Paris was Six Times More, than a New
Build Instrument by Blanchet
or Taskin.
Therefore
Ruckers Harpsichords were also
Counterfeited, and Non-Ruckers
Instruments were Given a Ruckers Rose and
Signature, and then Sold at an Enormous
Profit.
