FAQ about Baby

First off, yes, these are realy questions I have been asked. More than once.

Q: Was it planned?
A: Yes. (Seriously, after 11 years you think we messed up?)

Q: When are you due?
A: Sometime between 9/27 and 10/3. The doctor calculated one date, we calculated another.

Q: How many?
A: One. Check out the ultrasound pictures!

Q: Is it a BOY or a GIRL?
A: Yes.

(We know the gender, if you ask, we will tell.)

Q: Do you have cravings?
A: Nikki eats more cheeseburgers than ever before. Cinnamon buns have been a tasty treat of late, too.

Q: Do you have a name picked out?
A: No. We are looking at family trees with the thoughts of recyling a name, but we just cannot get on board with Buela, Millard, or Ferdinand.

Q: Do Shadow and Ti get to keep their room?
A: Yes, but now they'll have to share our laps.

Q: Won't people know when you decorate the nursery whether Baby is a boy or a girl?
A: No, because we are keeping it the neutral "sand" color and decorating it with Dr. Seuss!

Q: Are you getting a new car?
A: We hope to replace the 300Z with a new Corolla or maybe a RAV4 soon after Baby arrives. Must be gas efficient because we drive so far to work. We are keeping the Porsche for Mommy & Daddy Date Nights!!

Other Interesting Facts

  • There is a baby boom in the family! Also expecting - Colt's cousins Pam (July) and Shannon (August)!

  • Nikki was diagnosed with a severe bicornuate uterus in December 2007 (uterus is heart shaped instead of pear shaped, click here for more info from Google). This can cause problems for Baby and Mommy. Risks include 1st trimester miscarriage, incompetent cervix, intrauterine growth restriction, preterm labor, premature baby, and breech baby. Even with those risks and after giving us some worst case scenarios, the reproductive endocrinologist (RE), told us to "go forth and procreate" and that we did! Of our 7 doctors (the RE, 4 OBs at the practice, and 2 OBs at the hospital), all but one are concerned and watch us closely. The other, we just hope isn't on duty when Baby decides to show up. The good news is:
    (1) to date, everything is on track and
    (2) Nikki knows of a friend of a friend who also has a bicornuate uterus and has had three healthy babies, but all three were breech and required c-section.
