In
my view Lara Croft,
is a videogame idol.
She splits a side
from all the fast
rushing characters
out there. She is
crafty as James
Bond and a true
Indiana Jones when
she pulls out 2
revolvers from her
pants and does the
famous trademarked
gun draw. She is
kind of sexy too.
A guy named Toby
Guard created the
first sketches of
this Lora when Core
was looking for
a new ideas. They
had little expectations
until the first
prints got out.
Then it had a International
effect on the small
company. It
looked like he wanted
an "attractive
character"
who would grab people's
attention. They
sure got it. Tomb
Raider was released
on Playstation in
1996 and got Playstation
action game of the
year. She was shown
by Eidos in 1993
and first displayed
at E3 (videogame
conference) as a
prospective game
with full movie
video. The game
was a bit a head
of it's time. It
showed the first
3D action game involving
a bad ass girl whom
had to save a relic
of some kind. So
astounding the industry,
her first appearance
was on Great
Britain's Financial
Times.
Since then, success
in the UK was larger
then the United
States selling 3
million copies on
Playstation. Tomb
Raider II was released
1 1/2 years later
and it was a instant
hit. The new game
has improved over
the orginal. Lara
Croft character
improved. She looked
cool on Playstation. TIMES
Magazine promoted
her as "The
Top 50 shakers of
the Digital World."
Again, in my opinion,
this was a new propective
of Indiana Jones.
Then Tomb Raider
III was released.
That was the best
looking game. But
the series Died
in Tomb Raider The
Last Revolation.
In the end Lara
dies from a gun
shot wound. On the
web some gamers
thought that was
a sign that Lara
Croft was done for.
To
everyone's surprise
Core Designs released
another game called
TR : Chronicles,
which was better
then the Last Revelation.
A movie on Lora
Croft was released
in 2001 by Paramount.
For thoses who haven't
seen the first movie,
I won't spoil it.
The actress playing
Lara Croft looks
a lot like
her. A sequel is
coming out in 2004.
Core continued with
her project releasing
TR Angel of Darkness
which under gone
huge graphical upgrade
from Tomb Raider
Chronicles released
in 2000. The game
is exclusive to
Playstation 2 and
was released sometime
February 2003. Lara
fans around the
globe like the game.
From the reviews
on the web, there
wasn't any sanficant changes
made in Angel of
Darkness that gamers
also seen in Tomb
Raider. The
big question. Will
Core keep bringing
Lara Croft and put
her in new sequels?
What will be her
next game after
TR. Angel of Darkness?
