I am 18. I love Pizza. My Favorite show is the X Play, the predecessor of Extended Play on TechTV. I watch Modern Marvels on the History Channel too. That show has a lot of Military Biblographies that are really cool. If I had a favorite, my pick would be either "History of Stealth Aircraft" or "The MiG-16" They are really straight forward with their presentations. My favorite movie has to be Band of Brothers (2002 War). It's a real good DVD. Very informative and godly realistic! The movie is about how Kazy Company in World War II fought the Germans to eventually take control of Berlin. The movie is split up into 10 chapters being 10 hours in total. It's the most expensive war movie in exsistance too. If I could change the show I would make it longer. I love Nascar racing. A lot fo times I watch the Winston Cup on the Speed Channel. I also like Formula One racing. I also like to play Gamecube / N64 / Dreamcast and Playstation. But I am slowly loosing connection with videogames. I played the flute for seven years. Seriously. Once you can blow into it and develop your fingers, it's a breeze to play. Some other things about me are I like to go out to movies with people I know. Usually if I see a person the first time I will know if I will want to know him or not.  I listen to Aerosmith and Beatles a lot on Winamp. Go to I like classic music such as Metallica, Linkin Park, some techno remixes (only a few) including the well known John Digweed, Match Box 20, U2, 2PAc, Metallica, Linkin Park. And some old rock songs from the 80s. I go to such underground sites like Internetdj.com and always look for peoples' favorite artists and tracks.

When I was in 5th grade I went into Cub Scouts and continued into Boy Scouts in 6th grade. I stayed in the troop for 4 years. I was their scribe for that amount of time. Our troop was active in many things. When ever new boys come in we had to do our part. I was able to do my part and then some.

Some may see me as an ordinary person and in many cases that may be the truth, but to me I never see myself like other people. Back when I couldn't see that I was hurting myself. Why was it so difficult not to care about what's going around you. We are all the same and I'd had to clean up my mess and go on with being Ian. Long ago I had a pre-mature birth and was in the hospital for months until I could breathe on my own. Good news was that I'd made it out without any serious side effects. New ideas and things of those sorts. This happened to me I think. I spent 2 years making adjustments and now I'm ready to take on the world.

In 1997, I went through speech theory and this helped me explain in fluid speech what I felt. Why I felt alone? My reward was I went to Calvin Academy, which is a school outside the Twin Cities for learning disability kids. At first I was scared at those kids who came from the city. They listened to Metallica to that band that played the Du Hath song. I got to know them but this helped me a little bit. Yeah they made I effort to talk to me but I was still uncool for them. Yeah there were also kids like me whom talked about their stuff and listened to hip-hop. But damn this also meant that I had to be around kids whom had their whole life planned out and where going to loop me many time around. What could I do to make them look at me. Some good came out of going to a private school. My reading level went from 6th grade to 8th grade. My writing level also took a dramamic turn by not writing at all to writing some. I went there and I learned how to read at books at a 8th grade reading level from age 13. I got into the school because there was proof on paper that I had trouble with writing text paying attention at the same time. I don't know maybe I ice skating. One thing was certain, I could do the work at my grade level and remember the work. However I have experienced both sides and I know that when a math problem or article is read to me, I remember better then if it written on paper. All that happened in a 5 year period.

The world seems to change instantly in 1999. Could it of been when I started asking friends over to my house? Or could it of been having access to a computer (I don't know) So when I entered highschool 1999, I thought well everyone will recognize me and I will be really reconized. It so happens that I got elected school candidate for Prom. I was a weird feeling. I didn't even know that I was that popular in my class! Weird. Do someone think I was going to take the school by storm? I joined track while continue playing the flute. I went to many track meets and survived all the races. Each were 3 miles long on rudged terrain. Two track meets were in a corn field. There's something about corn that makes me want to run fast. It's a weird connection. All the boys in my grade joined track the year I left. So I wan't able to know them when I left. I had a change of running track in River Falls High School. But I gave it up. It was better then before because I focused, in 9th grade I wasn't very focused. But I could do all the homework of any other teenager. The only thing I could remember about 9th grade was track and the Prom. I was the first student in the school to use software based teaching curriculum and it was between a success and a disaster. So it came out to be a success. I got mad one day and made a scene. I had to have some physo talk. What ever happened there, I just forget what really happened.

I started to get into computers and for a short time I played the original Diablo on a Pentium 166 MHz machine with 2 friends I've known for a while. I used ICQ to talk to these friends. I knew that MP3s could be downloaded off the Internet but I had a hard time finding them. What I didn't know is that people found them off a Client Based Search Program like Limewire. I used Limewire very late in 1999 and didn't have a selection at all.

It was 2000 and I went back to that last school. Things changed. I took on people my age. So I went along with it. Then I wondered why I was there. Something’s you this need to except your one place and keep going there. Back experiencing the large class rooms. A teacher talking straight out. I paid attention and needed a boost of information before I could write. Reasking questions was popular with me. My grades were Cs and Ds when my previous scores at Calvin Academy were As and Bs in subjects like Math, Reading and Writing.

When I went back to Calvin Academy in 2000 I may of seen some familiar faces. I improved in Language Arts and brought it to college reading level. Along my time there I've been able to talk better as a result of reading papers out loud.

That fall I've gotten a new computer. I started playing First Person Shooters for a while but mainly surfed the Internet 4 hours a day. The second phone line helped tremendously. While it didn't speed up the Internet, it gave me more time on it. At first all moved my website and created a new email address. I played an online action game called Diablo 2 three hours a day with my first account. With the ability to burn CDs I made music CDs, data cds, game copies. I was able to start a MP3 collection from all of it.

A pond the turn of the century I've gotten into music and in a couple of months my MP3 collection surpassed one Gigabyte. I continued to work on a webpage called NDX Productions. I improved html skills from html source to image creation. I started from scratch and evolved to what I think would be decent editing and know-how on webpage design. I worked on it almost every day for two years.

I quit boy scouts later that year after I received Life Rank which is also the rank below Eagle Scout. I quit for some personal reasons. But I went to 4 tomahawks and took apart of 3 iron man tournaments. I earned 18 merit badges.

In 2001 -- I switched schools. Nothing really changed except for music. I will get to that later. This was becoming a new school setting. Come to think about it I never really missed anyone in Calvin Academy. Heck, half of them didn't care about me and usually this excepted my existence. Most people at this school are territorial. I started off slow a little. I wasn't stupid, but I was no volleyball, basketball star in the school neither. I was hard looking someone in the eye and try to get to know them. Almost like I had no hands on experience in being social. What I think is cool and what they think is cool are different. I met some friends and I still go out with them today.

Never before have I had a greater taste of music variety. I listened to many forms of country songs which I listened to up until 7th grade to hip-hop to heavy metal back to country and then for some strange reason I liked techno for 3 months. Thank God that's over with. Some say that techno is harder to "comprehend" for it's fast paced beat. But what they don't know is that sometimes I listened to techno through Winamp. It doesn't mix with the rest of music. For a year now I downloaded on a daily basis different music including country music, classic rock, classical music, hard metal, and hip-hop.

I started working that summer at a gas station near my place at minimum wage. l used all skills I use today. But I get the work done in 1/4 the time when I first started. This was about when I seriously thought about a college class. Was I going to take DOS Introduction or html code? The class I went with was DOS Introduction.

The future looks promising with a lot of people on my side. I can go on and take classes and train to be either a Unix Programmer or Technician. The difference is obvious. To become a Unix Programmer a student must take Pearl Language courses (basic language for Unix / Linux). I technician works with Windows, Linux and Sun Systems to create link (not together though since most people would prefer the same platform within their network. I still hold that promise true for today!

The year 2002 has defiantly been new since I work at a gas station not to far away. I do the work and most of the time I don't talk. At school I have a easy time getting things done. I am done most of the time because I don't do work all day long. Two hours of my day was working, then I go to work as work credit and get school credit that way. And guess what everyone I'm not perfect -- I almost did the opposite and not worked and took 2 more high school classes! I quit my first job, and that was because the gas station was small. My converted all my material to this webpage in December 2002. Oh yeah, now I'm listening to more heavy rock, rap music like Black Sabbath to Straid, Tu Pac and Puff Daddy. Most people don't know what I listen too. I change when everyone else changes. I can really play any music I want, ever since I know a MP3 player I can travel with. I guess I don't hate techno music, it's this not American. So I'm forced not to listen to it, even though I listen to it sometimes. Music like Dj Mystic and Digital Rockers are what I listen too.

I was using Redhat 7.1 Professional on my home computer. I had internet access with Redhat 7.1 since September. I enjoyed it. While I used it, I didn't get to know the operating system. I only used the word processor and Mozilla. My parents gave me RedHat 8.0 Personal Edition for Christmas. So I installed it on my computer later that day. I looked at the unities. That's when I got a 2nd computer where I spent half my savings on. It was at that time, I loved computers so much that I wanted to build my own. I got one with a Geforce 2 videocard which I upgraded to a ATI Radeon 9000. I had 386 DRAM and a 30 GB harddrive. Not exactly state-of-the-art. I was on a tight budget.

In January 2003, I started to take the Chippewa Valley Technical College Challenge. Could I make it out of Intro to Linux without failing? Linux is one huge operating system and it's different then Windows. I am writing simple code for my class in week 10. I don't know much about CISCO. I know that the C programming language is used more then Pearl. The school allows me to take work credit at the University of River Falls, helping people in their projects. Dreamweaver is popular program.  I can get it off the Internet and I have used it. I knew that since 1999 when I made my first webpage about Nintendo Gamecube. When I grew out of Red Dragon Productions website about videogames, I turned to this webpage about myself and it works. The college is big. There are many conference rooms in this college. I take my time and go through all of these rooms replacing VCRs. Only time will tell what I'm going to do with this work credit. I was put into this and could have left, but I didn't. How do I know if I'm only defeating myself when I walk away? I got through the first time. I passed my 2nd Linux class. That's awesome.

In May of this year, I updated to SuSe Linux 8.2 Personal Edition. I didn't have the money to spend on the Professional version. I've been using RedHat 8.0 for 5 months. Redhat 8.0 is still good. Suse is simular to Redhat. It has all the same programs. But I like it because when I download MP3s everyweek, I'm allowed to listen to them on my harddrive. I now have seven point four gigabytes of Mp3s ranging from country to rock to techno to comedy. Friends give me CDs loaded with Mp3s. I do the same for them. It works out good.

In June I started CISCO I and II classes at the Cippawa Valley Techicial College. I'm going to start an interactive resume sometime for my job. I guess I'm not taking Cisco 2 until next year. Because of funding I didn't get my share of the class. So I spent my summer doing other things. This looks like the direction I'm going to. Orginally I thought I was going to become a C++ programmer, then I got into Perl. That's why I took Linux Introduction. But know I'm going to be working in Windows. I thought I could create programs much what Visual Basic does in Windows. I could become I KDE developer. But I think you would need sanificant experience with Linux if your going to debug Linux.

I'm not an online gamer anymore. I don't have time since I'm in Linux all the time. I don't have a OpenGL card in my computer. Despite that, I recently gotten Unreal Tournament 2003 and Neverwinter Nights. I stopped playing Diablo 2 Lord of Distruction after I uninstalled it off my computer about 5 months ago.Playstation and Gamecube aren't interesting to me anymore. On weekends I usually pick a game and play it on weekends. The factor of PC games made me less wanting to play console, now console is less interesting and PC games are more interesting. © 2003 Ian Campbell
