My concrete Dungeon Siege Review !!! Detailed Review on my current favorite RPG on the computer. The game rocks! Dungeon Siege maybe the last massive multiplayer online role playing game ever. Dungeon Siege is Gas Power Games first project. The game has massive spending from Microsoft Game Studios. The game's lead designer, the one who controls all aspects of the game, is Chris Tayor. The designer behind the game is very well known. Gas Power Game talent have gathered developers formally developers from Sierra Studios from Half-Life and the Diablo Expansion Hellfire. Maybe not played as much as Diablo 2 or Warcraft, but has the same experience. Mainly the game has done the way of leveling up RPG instead of Class driven like in Neverwinter Nights and Diablo 2. In fact your character will gain range and melee skills as long as they use that weapon. The skill system is very deep. When Dungeon Siege was in the early development stages this was one of the issues. Gas Powered Games worried that they couldn't some aspects of the game out because of a tight budget or lack of innovation. But the end result was staggering. It is actually one of my favorite RPGS. With the invention of the Siege Editor, experienced home users could make Dungeon Siege Seigelets, a term for 3rd party Dungeon Siege maps. Each map uses vortex lighting meaning their isn’t any preloading in the game. The game runs on a 700 MHz CPU when it was developed. Though these computers used a lot of memory, they weren’t as powerful as today’s computers. The editor is mainly drag and drop. And all the tools are their including the latest bug fixes (mostly video card support) are their. The game runs in a seamless world with no loading times. The Siege engine was state of the art in 2001 created by both Microsoft and Gas Power Games. In someway it is exceptional because the characters have great detail to them. Chris Taylor realized that their will always be hackers who want to make use of the game like what Redskull Interactive done to make a character editor for Dungeon Siege. So what he means in multiplayer is instead of having the character files saved on your computer, much like what Blizzard has done with Diablo 2 is have your multiplayer in a closed network. But Gas Powered Games has an Open network where any player can level up their characters offline, in LAN games and also play it on the Microsoft Games Network. In 2002 Gas Powered Games made the first official seigelet called Yesterhaven. It is pretty large and very professionally done. It features 3 levels in the game that take about 30 minutes to complete each. Meanwhile, Gas Powered Games is making the first commercial expansion pack for Dungeon Siege. It will have Direct X 9.0a support! IT will probably a new map plus some expansion of current maps in current Dungeon Siege with more weapons, armor and enemies to boot. The name isn’t released, but it’s supposed to be released sometime winter 2003. Also Dungeon Siege 2 is going to released Winter of next year. Since the company grown and they have only one project to focus on, Dungeon Siege 2 may be improved on all fields. Including graphics, battle system, armor and level size. |
