Nick Talks About Each Song
1. Returned The Same
"This song actually means alot to me.  It is inspired by the story of two seperate people.  First of all, my brother.  My brother broke his neck in a horse riding accident May 2, 1998.  He is 'temporarily' paralyzed from the waiste down.  The doctors say he won't walk again, but the Bible states otherwise.  Nate is the prime example of Faith.  He walks in faith day in and day out, and he knows, along with many others including myself, that he will walk again.  The other one is my good friend Matt Kelly.  Matt was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer when he was 17, and I actually wrote this song while he was in the hospital, kind of as an inspiration for him.  Matt never gave up, and is now completely healed of the cancer.
I wanted to have this song as my first song, mainly because it states right away where I stand with healing.  Some people don't think it is for today, but I think otherwise.  God would not want his children to suffer, he rather loves them and wants to see them well.  This song states that through Faith, you will be Returned The Same as you were yesterday.  The original name for this song was actually 'Faith', but it did not seem to have the same catch as 'Returned The Same', which is actually repeated more throughout the song."
2. Who Cares? So What!
"What a message for a song!  Who cares what you accomplish here on Earth, it really doesn't mean anything in the long run.  Your accomplishments are not going to get you into heaven, your heart is.  A PBR World Championship Buckle is going to be nothing but a hub-cap on a chariot wheel in heaven.
'Who Cares? So What!' seems to be everyone's favorite song.  It just has that catchy tune with a catchy message.  Once I finished writing this song, I knew I had a song people would like.  This song just had to be the title track for the CD, because it states where I stand with this CD itself.  People always ask me if I want to make it big with this CD, and other questions similar to that.  But that is not what I am looking for.  I am looking for that one person who plugs this CD in, and it makes a difference in their life.  So Who Cares about Nick Morrison, and So What if the CD is a hit.  As far as I am concerned this CD could flop, but if there is still one person who's life is changed from listening to it, then it is all worth while."
3. Can't Forget
"This would probably rate as one of my favorite songs.  It talks about not getting so caught up in our every day life that we miss the whole point.  So many people just keep saying, 'well if this happens, or when this happens, then I will serve God; or then I will read my bible; or then I will give to the needy', and they totally miss out on an opportunity to learn and be blessed.  The song really puts into perspective that fellowshiping with God is just plain something that we Can't Forget.
The original version of this song actually has a final verse.  We turned chicken, and left the verse out when recording the song.  But now I am kicking myself because it is just a way cool verse.  Maybe if there is another CD someday, we can have a 'Full-Version Cut' of 'Can't Forget'.  But this is what the verse said, and actually how the song ended.  'You live your life one day at a time.  Oops, I can't think of nothing else that will rhyme.  Well that doesn't matter cause I'm just so fine.  And well, that's just something you better not forget.'  Maybe you agree with leaving it out, but still, it was cool."
4. In The Way
"This is one of those songs that when you write it, you have something set in your mind as to how you want it to sound when you record it, but then when you actually go record the song it turns out totally different, but then you love it even more.  I actually had a more Stained sound idea, where it was just me and my guitar dominating with the drums and bass hanging in the background, and then maybe an electric guitar dominating when the song climaxed.  Man, was I ever wrong.  That would have ruined this song.  Praise God for people like Scott Miller who can hear a song and know exactly what it needs.  He said he had an idea on how to make this song sound awesome, and so he laid the drums and bass guitar down on it with his idea, and wow, I about fell out of my chair when he got it all put together.
'In The Way' has a message about people that put their life on the shelf and say 'When I am old and grey, then I will accept Jesus, but for now I am just going to live my life.'  They are just to stubborn to know that if they let God rule in their life, that things would be way better, but their pride just keeps getting In The Way."
5. Better Way
"'Better Way' was the second song I ever wrote.  I never really liked this song at first, but it seemed to continue to minister to people whenever I played it, so I kept playing it.  I finally noticed that the words to this
song 'hit home' to alot of people with hardships they have had in their life.  And the more and more I played it, the more and more I liked it.  Then when we finished recording it, I fell in love with it.
It is has always been my dad's favorite song, and he would always have me play it for church, with him playing the bass guitar along with me.  He always had a cool bass guitar lick to it, so I decided to have him come play it on the CD.  And ole 'one-take-Jake' walked right in, didnt even warm up, played it once, and left.  Made me feel like quite the amateur."
