Mum was at home when you got home from school?
Nobody owned a purebred dog?
20p was decent pocket money and another 20p a huge bonus?
You'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny?
All of your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers wore high heels and had their hair done?
You got your windscreen cleaned, oil checked and petrol pumped all for free, every time and you didn't pay for air?
It was considered a real treat to be taken out for dinner at a proper restaurant with your parents?
The worst thing you could do at school was smoke in the toilets, fail a test or chew gum?
You and your friends used to lie on your backs, on the grass, saying things like, "That cloud looks like a ..."?
You jumped waves at the beach in that cold water?
Being sent to the headmasters office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited at home?
Stuff came from the shop without safety caps and hermetic seals because no-one had yet tried to poison a complete stranger?

And with all our progress, don't you just wish, just once, you could slip back in time and savour the slower pace and share it with the children of today?

Basically, we were in fear for our lives, but it wasn't from drive-by-shootings, drugs, gangs, etc... Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat!  But we all survived because their love is bigger than the threat.
Go back with me for a minute...
Before the Internet or the MAC
Before semi-automatics and crack
Before SEGA and Super Nintendo... way back

I'm talking about "hide and seek" at dusk,
Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry,
Kick the Can,
Playing football until your porch light came on,
Hula Hoops,
Rollerskating to music,
Running through the sprinkler,
WAIT.....
Christmas morning,
Your first day at school,
Bedtime prayers and goodnight kisses,
Climbing trees,
Getting an ice cream from the Ice Cream Van,
A million midge bites and sticky fingers,
Jumping on the bed,
Pillow fights,
Running until you were out of breath,
Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt,
Being tired from playing
Your first crush... Remember that?... I'm not finished yet...
Giving your friends a lift on your handlebars,
Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school,
Class Field Trips,
Decisions were made by going, "eeny-meeny-miney-mo",
Mistakes were corrected simply by saying, "Do it again!",
"Race Issues" meant arguing about who ran the fastest,
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in Monopoly,
It wasn't odd to have two or three "best friends",
Being old referred to anyone over the age of 20,
The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was nits,
Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better,
It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people rides" at the fair,
Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true,
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling over was cause for giggles,
The worst embarrasment was being picked last for a team,
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon,
Older siblings were the worst tormentors but the fiercest protectors.
Didn't that feel good, just to go back and say, "Yeah, I remember that!"  There's nothing like the good old days.  They were good then and they are good now when we think about them.

Share some of these thoughts with a friend who can relate to them, then share them with someone who missed out on them.

If you can remember most, or all, of these then you have LIVED!!!!!!

Pass this on to anyone who needs a break from their "grown-up" life.
Go on.... I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REMEMBER WHEN.........
