~~~~Two Lives, One Heart~~~~
Chapter Four
Later that night, after the concert, Nick couldn't sleep. He turned his head to look at Mandy. She was loudly snoring so that was part of the problem. The other part was that he just couldn't get his mind off the dancer in the gym. He kept seeing images of her in his head, dancing to his groups song. "Damn." He swore softly and swung his legs out of bed. He padded over to the TV and went to turn it on. "No, better not, Mandy will wake up and want another round, that I'm just not up for, in more ways than one." He quietly sat back down on the edge of the bed and pulled his pants on. He rummaged through a drawer to find a shirt and then searched for the room key. Of course, it was in Mandy's purse, both of them were. "Christ, Mandy, I'm not a criminal under lock and key!" he thought, while he grabbed the key. His assigned guard was dozing just outside the door. Nick tapped him lightly on the shoulder.
"I was just wondering if it would be okay to go down to the front desk for a minute?"
"Why don't you just use the phone?"
"Um, I don't want to wake up Mandy, she has an early rehearsal." Nick said lamely.
The guard escorted Nick down to the lobby. Fortunately, because of the late hour the lobby was almost deserted. A few people sat off to the side and tried to pretend they didn't notice the tall blond man and the even taller man following him closely. Nick walked up the the front desk and rang the bell.
A clerk appeared from a door off to the right. "Yes, sir, may I help you?"
"Yeah, I was wondering if you know if that dance group that was rehearsing in the hotel gym today is booked for tomorrow too?" Nick asked.
The clerk searched the hotel computer for the information he requested. "Ah, here it is. There are booked for 9am - 12pm, sir."
Nick smiled one of his 100 watt smiles. "Thanks a lot!"
As he made his way back to the elevator on of the ladies from the lobby approached him.
"Excuse me, are you Nick Carter?" she asked him.
Nick nodded and took the photo she held. "Would you like me to sign that?"
"Oh yes, please!" she smiled. "Make it out to Cindy, please!"
"No problem!" Nick signed the photo and gave her a hug and a kiss. "Go to bed and get some sleep now, okay love?" He smiled and waved goodbye to her.
Nick re-entered his hotel room and softly closed the door. He stood still to let his eyes adjust to the darkness. Just as he was about to move over to the bed, the light snapped on.
"Where did you go?" Mandy demanded.
"Um, I had to .....uh.....I needed...." Nick stuttered.
"Goddamn it Nick, you have every thing you need in this room because you never leave this room, it makes me sick!"
She threw the blankets back and stomped over to him. Mandy grabbed his arm and shoved him on the bed. Nick knew what to expect and had already let his body relax. She moved over to the bed and climbed on top of him.
"Now you have to pay for upsetting me, don't you?"
Nick wearily nodded his head and lay back.
"Nicky, you know I hate it when you make me mad, why do you make me so mad all the time?"
Mandy pulled his shirt up and off of him. She started kissing his chest and made her way up to his face. Nick closed his eyes, he felt the soft kisses, but didn't make any move to return them. He knew what was coming next. She kissed his chin, then each cheek, then she slapped him twice on the face with a flat palm.
"Did that hurt baby?"
Nick nodded his head yes and kept his eyes closed.
"Are you sorry you left me alone?" Unconsciously, he nodded no.
"What? Goddamn it, you really are going to pay now!" she yelled.
