"Oh Nick, what happened?" Alexa rushed over and wrapped her arms around his bare shoulders. "Oh my God, you're freezing! Didn't they get you some clothes?" She called AJ over. "Go down to the nurses station at the left end of this hall and tell them I want a set of scrubs, please." "I think I have a sweatshirt in the car." offered Kevin, following AJ out of the door. Alexa turned back to Nick. "What happened hun?" "Alexa?" Nick reached out and she took his hands in hers. "We were, we were, we..." Nick stammered. She let go of his hands to rub his back. "Take it easy, breathe deeply, relax." She soothed and took his hands again. "Swimming. Kathy slipped. Fell into the pool. I couldn't find her!" Nick took a ragged breath between the terse sentences. Kevin and AJ arrived with the clothing and Alexa asked them to get Nick dressed. "He needs to get out of those wet trunks." She hugged Nick tightly. "Hun? I'm going to go see how she is and then take you to her, alright? Get dressed and I'll be right back."

"Gravens?" The middle-aged doctor at the side of Kathy's bed turned to face the door. "Dr. Reeves, how are you?" "I'm fine, how's the patient?" Alexa casually leaned against the closed door. He consulted his chart before setting it on the bed. "She suffered a mild concussion, got a nasty cut and bump from hitting the edge of the pool as she fell in. She took in a lot of water, but otherwise all her vitals look good. I would be surprised if she didn't awaken shortly." "So she's fine?" "Basically, why?" Alexa tried to hold her temper in check. "You did know someone was anxiously awaiting news on her condition in the waiting room?" The doctor smiled slightly. "Her friend, the blind guy? Yes I know he is waiting." "The blind guy?" Alexa fumed. "I'm bringing him in to see her." "Not until she wakes up." "I'm bringing him in now." Alexa flung the door open so hard it banged the wall behind it. "I'll report you Doctor." Gravens said simply. "Go ahead!" Alexa flung back. "I'm getting him."

"Lex? Can you stay with me? Until she wakes up?" Alexa took his hand and led him to the chair by the side of the bed. "Of course I can, Nick." She pulled another chair over to sit with him. "Do you feel like talking now? Might make you feel better." Nick sighed and rubbed his eyes. "It's my fault." "How did she fall Nick?" "I don't know. I just heard it." He took a deep breath. "We were swimming and got to kissing and stuff. We went up on the deck to, to...well, you know." Alexa couldn't help but giggle. "Please don't tell AJ!" Nick begged. "He'll tell everyone!" "I won't tell him." she solumnly promised. "Then we got to the point where we were just about to and Kathy got up to get a condom from inside. I heard her scream and then the splash." "She must have slipped on some water and fell." Alexa mused. "Not your fault." "I couldn't find her!" Nick protested. "She was in the water all that time!" "But you did, you found her. You got her out of the water and called for help. Nick you did all you could have done." she told him. "I hope so." he said sadly. "She wasn't in the water very long, it just seemed forever because you were panicked."

Alexa looked over to Kathy and noticed her eyes flicker open. She held her finger to her lips and pointed to Nick. "Hey Nick? I have to go update the guys okay? I'll be right back." He nodded and felt along the bed for Kathy's hand. "Kathy? Oh God, I hope you wake up soon. I'm so sorry." He start crying and suddenly felt fingers brushing the tears off his cheeks. "I'm okay Nick. I'm awake." "Kathy? Are you really okay?" She laughed. "I'm really okay!" He squeezed her hand tightly. "I was so scared." "Me too." "I love you." "I love you too." Nick bent his head and Kathy sat up to kiss him. "Are you really alright?" he asked again, running his hands over her hair. "Yes Nick! I have a hell of a headache but I am fine!" He kissed her again. "I think this is where we were before we were interrupted." she murmured. "Yup." Nick whispered. "And as soon as I get you home, we're going to finish what we started." "Promise?" Kathy licked his earlobe. "I promise."
