Parasites
Parasites are very different from humans in many ways. One way they feel need only to save their own skin. This is why lefty doesn't understand Shin's risking his own life in order to save others. Parasites also have the abilities to sense facts about other parasites and their whereabouts (this only can go as far as 300 yards). The parasites came down to earth and their instinct tells them to take over the human brain. But they make mistakes, just like humans some don't get into the brain some went into the wrong spot like Lefty he went into Shin's arm instead of his brain.
Sara is a very close friend to shin some may even say that she is his girlfriend (although that is highly debatable). She seems to also want to know what is going on in Shins life but the more she wants to know the more distant he becomes.
Sara
Shins mother (she doesn't really have a name that is also probably because the people in the story never use that name). She has a scar on her wrist that is a representation of her strong maternal for her only son.
