The 35th reunion weekend was an event everyone who attended will hold in their memories for a long, long time. It was more than just going to a party with people you used to know. Old friendships were explored and renewed, old memories were shared and new memories made.

The 1999 class reunion was held at the American Legion hall on Saturday evening, July 31, 1999. Even the lack of air conditioning couldn't wilt the spirit, nor disturb the atmosphere, of unbridled fun. The theme of Sadie Hawkins was perfect . Country casual was the ideal choice for the 80+ degree temps. As classmates greeted each other, you could feel the years melt away.

Class President Margot was very sad to report that the list of deceased classmates has grown over the past five years. The honor role was read and we also remembered our teachers and advisors who have passed on with a moment of silence. With the presentation of awards and other announcements taken care of, it was time to announce the "king and queen" of the reunion. The highlight of the evening was the "crowning" of 'Lil Abner & Daisy Mae. Linda Dolan Baker was named Daisy Mae and she wore her badge of office with pride. The naming of Abner took a turn & a twist - it was a tie! So Dick Root and "Chuckie" Hunt were given crown and staff.

With all business and ceremonies taken care of, it was time to relax and chat with old friends and acquaintances. Many classmates showed they still know how to trip the light fantastic and took advantage of the music to recall the '60 (and their youth) with the Bruce Beadle Band. Several of the more adventurous took the party to Millie's after the band had played its last song.

The reunion weekend started Friday evening with an early icebreaker arranged by Jessie Golden at the Plaza Lanes from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Bowling was optional and several classmates and spouses took advantage of the opportunity. Rumor has it that "Chuckie" Hunt had quite a game. The bar was open - which certainly aided the bowlers. The public was invited so that anyone interested in meeting "old" friends from the Class of '64 could have the opportunity.

The "official" unofficial pre-reunion icebreaker was at the Ontario Hotel & Restaurant on Friday evening, July 30, 1999, starting about 8:00p.m. It was a great gathering, both inside and outside. The informal atmosphere let everyone relax and recall the "old" days with "old" friends.

Bill Winans organized a golf outing for Saturday morning. Awards were presented at the Reunion party for the best foursome and the members team with the highest score were presented with self-help instructional golf videos. No names will be mentioned...

By the time the weekend drew to a close, most classmates were a little tired, a little warm, but ready to do it all over again (in five years).
