Organization The staff, or the Headquarters Company, includes the Battalion Commander, the Battalion XO, the S-1, the S-2, the S-3, the S-4, the S-5, the Team Coordinator, the SASAI, and the Battalion (Command) Sergeant Major. The Battalion Commander is the highest in rank and position. He or she commands the battalion during different functions and supervises all of the cadets with and without leadership positions. The Battalion Executive Officer (XO) supervises the rest of the staff and is the chairperson at the staff meetings. Staff Meetings are held every Thursday afternoon, usually from 2:50 PM to 3:30 PM. The Battalion XO oversees the staff members turn in reports and leads in discussing business at the meetings. The S-1, also called the Adjutant Officer, processes the data on all of the cadets, including promotions, demotions, merits, demerits, awards, and ribbons, and prepares for and runs Awards Night. The S-2, or the Public Affairs Officer, leads in social activities, such as the Military Ball, writes and distributes the monthly newsletter, and organizes our battalion's participation in the parades. The S-3, also known as the Training and Operations Officer, is usually the third highest-ranking officer in the battalion. He or she files lesson plans, develops training and academic schedules, and publishes the yearly master training schedule. The S-4, or Logistics (Supply) Officer, manages and keeps an inventory on all the equipment we have. The S-5, also called the Special Projects Officer, does regular tasks such as acting as the webmaster, the parliamentarian, the class leaders and platoon leaders supervisor, the lesson planner, and the computer analyst. The Team Coordinator supervises all of our teams and prepares them for competitions. The SASAI (Special Assistant to the Senior Army Instructor) acts as the secretary at all of the meetings and heads the fund raising committee. The (Command) Sergeant Major supervises the Flag Detail and the Color Guard. One way a cadet can become a staff officer is through appointment by the SAI (Senior Army Instructor). Another way a cadet can become a staff officer is by being appointed as an assistant by the staff officer and by being trained as an assistant by the staff officer. After the staff officer leaves the program (graduates, etc.) the assistant usually becomes the officer. This is the current staff: |
