An Update from Mark Snow

"Unfortunately there is no progress what so ever on any of the CD situations... FOX is totally unwilling to release any of my music (X-Files, Millennium, Lone Gunmen, Scully's Theme, etc.) and won't let me take the music to any other outlets.

"I'm finishing up the last 9 episodes of The X-Files and Smallville, and on [March 28 at 8PM ET/PT] FOX will air Post Mortem, a reality show I did last summer. If it does well it will be a series. There is also rumors that the show Pasadena might be run in June for the 13 episodes we made."

The two-hour series finale of The X-Files, "The Truth", will air on May 19th at 8PM/7C. Post Mortem's opening credits is available at Fuel. This Santa Monica design firm created the show's logo, graphics package and main titles. Post Mortem examines the gruesome world of forensic science and investigation of current crime cases.

Top Ten list: Snow's X-Files theme - "sounds of the decade"

The January 14-20th 'Guide' section of the Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald focused on television music. The article, written by Bruce Elder, includes a list of television's most unique and groundbreaking TV themes. Mark Snow's X-Files theme was mentioned as well as Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks, Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn and Ron Grainer's Dr. Who:

The X-Files [photo of Doggett, Scully and Skinner from season 8]:
Written by Mark Snow, a graduate from New York's Juilliard School, this became one of the defining sounds of the past decade. The moment it starts, everyone automatically knows that something suitably strange and extraterrestrial is about to happen. A perfect example of music evoking an entire series. Hear the music and Scully and Mulder are there in your mind's eye.

Pasadena
in 2002

Pasadena is "tentatively scheduled to return to FOX in March", according to the show's official website. However, Zap2it reports Pasadena could follow the route taken by The Tick, which was cancelled last week. FOX Entertainment President Gail Berman said, "We are trying very hard to get it [Pasadena] back on our schedule" but it is simply a matter of space. Read the complete article at Zap2it.
