Soul, born Scott Gregory Smith, is the oldest of five children and has five children of his own. He is a family man that enjoys serving the Lord alongside his wife, Akilah. He was destined to lift up the name of Jesus, sing and entertain. From childhood days of putting on comical, theatrical productions for the adults in the living room, singing and dancing for spare change at family gatherings and harmonizing with his siblings, to a lifetime full of singing in gospel choirs, praise teams and leading soulful worship in his church, Canaan Christian Fellowship where his father pastors, Soul has always had a vision that he would one day sing before kings to minister the goodness of the Lord.
A preacher, teacher and a reacher... An evangelist with fire in his heart, his pen could be considered a flame thrower. No beating around the bush! His lyrics seem to come straight from the heart of God! Soul believes in bringing the message to the world in a culturally relevant way. "My desire is to be like Jesus and 'touch the lepers' of today right where they live (the gang bangers, the abandonned, the cultural intellects and even the carnal Christian that has temporarily lost sight of the way)."
