BIOGRAPHY
Stavros Messinis is a poet,
journalist and editor. He was born in Greece and
migrated to Australia in 1981. Educated in Greece
and Australia, he is mainly interested in Greek and
Greek-Australian Literature and especially in
poetry.
He has published three collections
of poems in Greek: Zero
Hour (Elikia
Books, Melbourne,1983), Tree
City (Elikia
Books,1987) and The
First Spring (Elikia
Books,1988). Other collections, like
The
House of Yakinthes and
Kaleidoscope1
are ready for publication. He started the book
publishing house Elikia Books Publications in
Melbourne and worked as newspaper and radio
reporter and editor.
Together with Thanasis Spilias he
edited the bilingual anthology REFLECTIONS:
Selected Works from Greek-Australian
Literature (Elikia
Books, Melbourne, 1988). This anthology was
published with the assistance of the Australian
Bicentennial Authority to celebrate Australia's
Bicentenary in 1988.

(English & Greek) "REFLECTIONS:
Selected Works from Greek Australian
Literature" was
edited by Thanasis Spilias and Stavros Messinis and published with the
assistance of the Australian Bicentennial
Authority to celebrate Australia's
Bicentenary in 1998. This anthology
contains selected poetry and prose and a
comprehensive introduction by
Dr Con
Castan and
bibliography. Writers represented include
Dimitris
Tsaloumas, Antigone Kefala, Zeny Giles,
Angelo Loukakis, Spiro Zavos, George
Papaellinas, Stylianos Harkianakis, Vasso
Kalamaras and
others.
