Rev. Denny Evans Hi. My name is Denny and I would like very much to share my testimony with you. When I was a child my family didn't have very much and my parents weren't church going people, so the only time I had the chance to go to church was to go to vacation bible school with a friend or a neighbor and to be honest the only reason I went was to get the candy or prizes they might give out. When I was about thirteen years old a woman came to me and ask me if I had ever been saved and of course I told her no. She told me to Pray and I would be saved. I did as the woman asked, I said the small prayer she told me to say and then went home thinking that everything was alright. But There was something wrong, nothing had changed, I was still the same person. I lived a life full of lies and deceit, thinking that everything's alright because I had done what the woman had ask me to do. But in reality I was in deep trouble, bound by alcohol, drugs, and all the deceit that this world had to offer. I was doing alright , making enough money to get by, attending church now and then, but there was something missing in my life. I got married in 1978 and the at first it was very hard, my wife and I wanted children, we tried and lost two children due to miscarriage's, The doctor's said that my wife was a natural aborter and couldn't have children and that made things even worse. When I was 27 years old a gospel group ask me to come and try out with them for a singing position that was open, now there is nothing I like better then singing, so I went, The very first song that I sung set these men off, they started crying and shouting and let me know real quick that I was the person that was supposed to sing with them and I excepted even though I knew I wasn't living right. For the next week these guys practiced with me hard, we had a few song learned and one of them told me we were going that Sunday night to a church to sing. We got up and sung a few songs and then something happened, one of them turned to me and ask me to testify, my thoughts left me, I didn't know what it meant much less what it was. Well I made it home and Monday came and went. But Tuesday was different, When I got home there was something wrong, I couldn't eat or sleep because I was under conviction. That night as I was lying in my bed Jesus spoke to my heart and I raised my hands and cried to the Lord for forgiveness. That night I got saved and have never been the same since. You see, I had lived a lie since I was thirteen years old, The spirit of the Lord is the only thing that can convict a heart and let a person know that they are lost. Since that Tuesday night I have been singing and in 1997 The Lord called me to Preach his word. I am still married to the same woman for 22 years and now have two wonderful children, A boy 17(Jamie) and a girl 14(Ashlie), both are saved and work very hard for the cause of Christ. My family and I came to New Beginning Baptist Church and have found a group of Christians who truly love God and don't care to show it, with their love and prayers. Please, ask The Lord to search your heart and make sure that you don't find yourself in the same place that I was. God Bless, Rev. Denny Evans
