Background: First introduced into service in AC 175, the Leo was slowly upgraded over the years leading up to the outbreak of total war in AC 195. By that time, the Leo had actually changed very little from earlier models. The primary reason for the Leo's long service record was its simple adaptability: in addition to a wide variety of hand weapons, the Leo could be outfitted with a winged thruster pack for limited atmospheric flight capability.

After the Eve War the Leo still existed amazingly, utilized for heavy lifting jobs for civilian corporations and other construction organizations. Fifteen years after the Eve War, when small factions all over the world began rising up, this was the premier suit utilized simply because of its numbers. Other units were used but this held precedence over them all. Neverwinter Corps also took notice of the Leo Design type. The IMSRD, an unknown subsidiary of Neverwinter took the Leo, and many of the older design types used in the Eve War, and retrofitted them, and even redesigned them.

The Assailant Mk. I was the second variant retrofitted by the IMSRD. Every system inside of the original Leo was scrapped and all Neverwinter technology was applied, bolstering the Assailant's combat effeciency exponentially. The Assailant however is not as versatile as the Intruder. The assailant lacks no air capibilitiy within a full G environment due to the heavy weight of the Armor Shroud and the lack of thrust from her thrusters. However, the Armor Shroud is the feature of this suit, allowing the Assailant to assault under harsh defensive conditions and come out better than the Intruder might. The Armor Shroud weighing far less than the Full Armor Ground Pack utilized by the Intruder. The Assailant's main shortfall is the lack of a devistating melee attack. A beam bayonet being its only melee weapon.
