Melissa the Mommy

I'm Melissa and I am 24 years old (for now anyways!) and I am a stay at home mom. Only when I found out that I was pregnant did I realize how important I thought it was that I be home with my children. I'd always relished the idea of getting a good job and making a lot of money, but this seemed more important, and to me it is.

Now that Ryan is a bit older, I've finally gotten a good routine and usually manage to shower before noon these days! We have lots of fun, and now that spring is here, I'm hoping that we can spend a lot of time outdoors. This past winter was sooo long, and I've made a promise to myself NOT to complain about how hot it is this summer! We'll see how long that lasts!

Kayla and Ryan have started playing together now that the boy is more mobile. It is so wonderful to see their relationship grow. They have a lot of fun when Kayla remembers to share, and when Ryan is not preoccupied with the fact that he can't walk yet! The best part is, it will probably only get better!

In My Spare Time

In whatever spare time I get, I like to work on our web sites. It started out as an experiment and although I haven't gotten very good at it, it's still something I enjoy doing.

After Ryan was born, I was bound and determined to lose the weight I had gained with both pregnancies. I managed to lose the bulk of it last fall, and a few more pounds over winter too. Now that the weather has warmed up, I've started running. I'm not very good yet, and can't go far without stopping for breath, but I'm trying!

This spring and summer, I would like to learn more about gardening. So far, I've limited myself to weeding and raking, so maybe this year I'll be daring and try something a bit more. Oh yeah, last fall I did dig up some bulbs and replanted them in new positions.....they haven't fully come up, so we have yet to see how good of an idea that was!

My Family

My own mother has been a wonderful inspiration in my life. She has taught me strength, patience and of course how to be a good mommy. Our relationship is great now that I've "grown up" and it's nice to consider her one of my friends now.

I have 3 sisters, 1 older and 2 younger. They are all different and it's sometimes hard to believe we come from the same family, but generally we all get along pretty well. Our sense of humour is the same though and we always have a good laugh when we're together.

My nephew just turned 11 years old, and he and Kayla have the same birthday, February 15. They are the best of buds, and spend a lot of time together whenever we visit.
