*Parental Advisory Explicit Content*
By Skye
The first time I saw that sign, I was like “what the heck?!” I mean, when you hear Limp Bizkit howling “fuck” more than 46 times in “hotdog”, who is more likely to be shocked? The parents or their kids? I guess those who introduced this advisory [I think it was done by some first lady or the wife of some senator in the USA] used the right word: parental. Indeed, parents are advised that THEY should not be listening to these lyrics, except if they want to have a coronary attack or something. Just try it out…
How many times has one of your teachers blamed you for
not being explicit enough when explaining something? I find it extremely ironic
that we are being prevented from listening to “explicit content”…how the heck
do they want us to learn to be explicit if we don’t get to listen to explicit
words anyway?!
“Explicit” is definitely not the right word here. When
Tom sings “I wanna fuck a dog in the ass”, is he being explicit? It’s not as if
he is describing how he wants this done [Thank God!], so what the heck is
explicit about it? Even Limp Bizkit’s hotdog [again] only states that “you
wanna fuck me like an animal” [of course, we do not know who the you is]
without any other details…
We’ve seen worse though. MTV censors the word “gun” in
Wheatus’s “Teenage Dirtbag”…but don’t they realise that the peeps who will be
watching this video are probably fans who knows all the lyrics by heart anyway?
Moreover, we all know that teenagers do everything that they are being
prevented from doing. I personally think that by cutting out the “gun” some
teenagers go and get themselves a gun, just because they know it’s forbidden…
[The MTV censor board have also forgotten that people
can always lip read anyway….]
And what’s the deal with censoring words like “cunt”
or “dick”, doesn’t every girl have the former and every boy the latter? [ok for
some it’s vice versa or both, but whatever!] These words are explicit yes, they
are explicit about real life, about the true nature of the world…I mean what’s
realistic about Britney Spears [I can see you rolling your eyes and hear you
thinking “hear we go again”] “singing” [of course singing is in inverted
commas, she cannot sing] that she’s so lucky, she’s a slut, oops, I meant
star??
I think that some censorship boards are prejudiced
[ahhh the BIG word]. Why is it that only rock [etc etc] and rap [etc etc] songs
are censored anyway? I think that most of the folks who listen to rock/rap are
very mature persons who think realistically and see the world as it is. But who
listens to Britney Spears? [I’ll shut up about her very soon] Most of her fans
are gullible VICTIMS who are still at the stage of innocence [even at 25]. What
I mean is that those folks still have to grow up…and what kind of adults is
Britney Spears bringing up? [I’ll come to the point in a few seconds]… “HIT me
baby one more time” is what she encourages her fans to do…not that I have
anything against S + M, but listening to “HIT me baby one more time” a hundred
times a day can be very detrimental to health. They are the ones who turn into
psycho rapers…Britney Spears wants *everyone* to practice S+M…so if there are
any parents reading this, PREVENT YOUR KID FROM LISTENING TO BRITNEY SPEARS!
There are some songs which are sexually “explicit”
[not with dogs!] and I think they should not be censored either! What’s the
most natural feeling in the world anyway? Why censor it? Some songs even tries
to help kids find answers to their sexual identity problems…look at NOFX’s Liza
and Louise for example. Liza says that men don’t know how to fuck…it is clear
that it is HER opinion, it’s not like that bitch spears telling everyone to hit
her! It [Liza and Louise] also indirectly urges people who are not fulfilled in
their current straight relationship to try it out with a person of the same
sex, to see if it works…Obviously, this can lead to a more cheerful and
pleasurable [no pun intended] society, are you following my point?
In conclusion, I would like to express my view on what
I think the “parental advisory explicit content” means to me:
1] Parental Advisory in the sense that parents are
advised that they could be shocked by the content of the songs
2] The advisory is for the parents who want their kids
to remain narrow-minded, stupid and unsuited for the real world
3] They should be used on Britney Spears music.
4] They act as an incentive for kids to buy the cds
and finally
5] They should be BANNED [except for Britney Spears of
course]
For my second conclusive remark [no it’s
not over yet] I would like to say that my parents don’t prevent me from buying
cds/cassettes with the advisory, so this piece of shit was not written out of
frustration. In fact, I have no idea why I wrote this. Maybe it’s part of my
campaign against Britney Spears. Huh, I think I’m done now.
