| Some people try to steal other peoples accounts. They ruin the fun for everyone else. Scammers aren't cool. Be on the look out for scammers and REPORT THEM RIGHT AWAY. |
| NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD!! NEOPETS STAFF WILL NEVER ASK FOR IT. |
| I can't stress how important this is. Neopets Will NEVER ask for you password. If someone tells you that there is some reason that they need your password, they are lying. REPORT THEM immediately. |
| Don't bother with chain-mail like neomessages. "If you pass this letter on to five other people you will get five neggs" That is untrue. Don't waste your time on these. No one will know whether you sent it to five other people or not. These are just annoying and a waste of time for all of us. |
| Only Trade using the TRADING POST. Any other method isn't safe. |
| When you are in a shop, you might find an item for very cheap. So you'll click to buy it. Sometimes it might come up to a login page that looks just like the regular neopets login page. You of course login and unknowingly have just gave your login name and password to a scammer. DON'T FALL FOR THIS. Immediately report this person. I fell for this when I was a newbie and my account was stolen. They change the password and email and I was forced to start over. |
| DON'T be a sucker for the teary-eyed story sent by neomail: "My account was hacked! They stole all of my neopoints, my paintbrushes, and all of my rare items. Please be a good soul and give me a donation to get me back on my feet. IF you don't help me I'll cry." Don't fall for this. You have no way to know that this person was really hacked. This person is probably just making up a story to make people fell bad for them so they can get free stuff. This IS CHEATING. If you get a message like this, report them to neopets. |
| If you think that someone has scammed you... maybe you weren't thinking and you gave them your password....if this happens, change your password immediately. |
