BOB AND CAMILLE ARMANTROUT AT HOME ON MAUI

Updated through September 30, 2001

OUR LAST WEEKEND WITH HENRY AND KELLY

We were able to get together with Henry and Kelly on Saturday and Sunday for some more fun.  We played in the surf for hours.  Does it look like we're having a good time?

It's plain to see that these two have been friends for a long time and truly enjoy each other's company.

One last photo in the parking lot with the light fading.  Henry wanted a picture of our car and license plate.

BACK TO WORK

Four days of hard work resulted in the installation of five weather stations on Kaho'olawe.  They are already collecting data.  Bob was able to take advantage of the new driving agreement and is seen here driving the "duece and a half."  Kristian, Lani, Deepak and Andre hash out the details.

Deepak looking very serious or probably just drained.  Shaun volunteered one day.

BOB'S BIRTHDAY - September 25

In which we took the day off to meet Henry and Kelly at the airport and drive over to Ka'anapali for lunch beside the beach.  They brought gifts, one of which Bob is holding on our way back down the beach to our car after a nice afternoon with these two very special people.

IS THIS MAN FUN TO PHOTOGRAPH OR WHAT?

Always clowning!  We were looking for a piece of cloth September 23rd and Bob decided to model for me.

MORE GARDEN SCENES

Bob loves to water and here's why: Water Creates Beauty as in these lovely Gerber Daisies.  You can tell he's having a good time giving Aloha to our landscape.  He says it's "Management by wandering around."

Most evenings turn the sky into these brilliant colors.  They remind us of Maxfield Parrish's landscapes.  If we are home when this happens, we'll say "It's Maxfield Parrish hour!" and grab the camera.

 PLANT OF A DIFFERENT COLOR

Bob has been wanting to buy one of these magnificent Red Ti plants for some time now.  We decided it looked right at home in this garden of succulents we call "Seymours" for want of the proper name and because they remind us of the man-eating plant in "Little Shop of Horrors."  Every three weeks, we take a drive over to the Kula Ace Hardware and Nursery to fill our spare propane bottle.  That way, we never run out of propane.  It's always fun to see what kinds of plants they have in their nursery.

A LABOR OF LOVE

It occurred to me that we have posted lots of before and after shots but none of the During.  Here is Bob working hard in the garden Sep 3.  He is shaping the landscape with a shovel and his bare hands.  We get a lot of satisfaction doing it this way and wonder why other people bother with weed eaters and roto tillers.  This sloping hill is my labor of love.  I've been encouraging this ferny type of plant to cover it for the last 6 months while discouraging all the other noxious weeds.  It's finally filling in.

A NEW VIEW

This is the best shot we have so far of the view from our house to the Pacific Ocean.  We were never able to see this much daylight until the neighbor took out some huge Eucalyptus trees.  What a great surprise it was to come home from work and see this!
