NEIGHBORHOOD VOLUNTEER
LITTER-CONTROL PROGRAM
Every Tuesday at 5pm, weather-permitting,
during the Spring, Summer and Fall months.

Clean-up area includes:
16th Place - between Ashland and Wilson Avenues
and
Scott Avenue - between 16th and 17th Streets

The Litter-Control Program was started by Block Captain GiGi Monaco in 2001.

By working with the children in the neighborhood, on a VOLUNTEER basis,
lessons in
Pride and Respect for the neighborhood, neighbors and people are learned.

Children feel a sense of "belonging" and ownership in their neighborhood.

Snack rewards are donated by residents. Reverend Alice Brown of the
Universal Oneness Bible Study Center has generously opened her doors
to providing a place for children to receive their snack and drink rewards
during the last year and continues to participate in this volunteer program.

Children must have their parents sign a permission slip
in order to participate in this volunteer program.

Adult(s) who volunteer to take the children to the designated clean-up area are free of liabilities.

Beginning this year, Mr. & Mrs. Carbajal of 16th Place are in charge of this program and
work with Reverend Brown in working with the kids in our neighborhood!

Thanks to everyone for making a difference in our neighborhood and community!
