CURRENT NEWS
July 11:

Due Season Ministries International's annual "Back To School Rally" on Saturday, Aug 13 at Faith Christian Church.

Resident children & other area kids playing IN the streets, and other area kids cause most problems; Resident children afraid to go to city park because of older kids picking on them; Kids say there's nothing to do.
Possible solution(s): Adults to accompany their children to park; Adults should send other kids home; Have events for kids, study groups, etc.

Rental housing problems - unkept yard, trash, etc.
Possible solution(s): Neighbors to call Code Enforcement.

A 17th St. resident has numerous cats living in house causing smells & health hazard.
Possible solution(s): Call the City, Code Enforcement & Animal Control...again.
Keep reporting.

Alderman Willie White - no action taken in some of our neighborhood problems, no reply to numerous Neighborhood Watch invite (phone, mail); and Mr. White's comments at his ward meeting regarding taking our neighborhood problems to city council, not his ward mtg, etc.
Possible solution(s): To get Mr. White to own up to his responsibilites as an alderman who is suppose to be listening to his constituents, many residents from our group will attend the next City Council meeting and address our unheard concerns to Mr. White, Mayor DeLuca & other city council members.

Tree-trimming & Street lights needs:
call the City.

Planning of annual "Neighborhood Watch Awareness Event" on 17th Street; don't call it a "block party", open to residents here, not the entire public.

Any questions, contact Greg Matthias at 708.754.9832 or email
here.
NEXT MEETING: AUGUST 8, 2005
