A farewell to arms. |
Debriefing by CABAL. Sad day. I've just recieved the hands-up-I'm-out message from the first original member of TEAM D.O.A., Killasluga. We started playing Red Alert many years ago, and later included the excellent Rainbow Six which grew into Rogue Spear. Since 1999 we would play Rogue Spear and Red Alert quite a lot, only recently putting our beloved Red Alert in the closet and instead fight for control of Arrakis in the unforgiving desert landscape. I must admit that forced Emperor: The Battle For Dune upon the two other members of this clan. However, I firmly believe that this was the RIGHT choice. Some people would say that I did this due to the fact that I'm a huge fan of the first two Dune books(Dune, Dune Messiah). The real reason is that I love tanks and deserts and this game had both PLUS being the best RTS has to offer. We had some disagreement here, but I got my way(smileyface). We always agreed that Rogue Spear was the hub of the universe and perhaps the focus of our friendship, but we still found time to discuss books and music. Thanks go to Killa for introducing me to Kurt Vonnegut and Jethro Tull. He might not say the same the about Isaac Asimov and Dune, though I felt that Asimov was more to his liking.(frowneyface) Sure, we tried other games and hated all of them; Starcraft, Tiberian Sun, Counterstrike, Quake III, Delta Force and so on. Our place was always the paranoid battlefields of the Rainbow Six games. The reason for his depature from the fields of glory is something so trivial as work. Something about writing books about such topics as "The wonders of linguistic communication". Okay, I made that up. I'll say that talk is cheap, but your HK where you mouth is. But could there be another reason? Normally the rule of thumb is that 35 is the closing age for infantry troopers. This could perhaps be adding to the decision. Another possibility is the war-syndrome known as combat-fatigue, which, in Rogue Spear would be named LAG-fatigue. But hey, it's been fun. And if your depature means that you have had the urge for a real life, fine. If the reason is that you got tired of playing, fine. Just remember that the friends you make in the frontline are hard to find anywhere else. And know this: You'll always have a home in my clan, if you fail to adjust to civilian life. I will, of course, keep you posted on what's going on in the world of RS and Ghost Recon. This concludes the debriefing, I will now quote Disney's 'The Lion King': "Our trio's down to two" ...And Pink Floyd: "Did you exchange your walk-on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage?"
