ISTE is a nonprofit professional
organization with a worldwide membership of leaders and
potential leaders in educational technology. We are
dedicated to promoting appropriate uses of information
technology to support and improve learning, teaching, and
administration in Technical education and teacher education.
ISTE�s role is leadership�we provide our members with
information, networking opportunities, and guidance as they
face the challenge of incorporating computers, the Internet,
and other new technologies into their fields.
An organization of great diversity, ISTE leads through
presenting innovative educational technology books and
programs; conducting professional development workshops,
forums, and symposia; and researching, evaluating, and
disseminating findings regarding educational technology on
an international level. NEC's ISTE Web site, contains
coverage of the many topics relevant to the educational
technology community.
OBJECTIVES OF ISTE
The major objectives of ISTE are :
1. To formulate the general goals & responsibilities of technical education.
2. To adjust curriculum & educational processes to changing conditions.
3. To develop effective teachers & educational administrators..
4. To improve instructional methods & practices & administrative usages.
5. To enhance professional ideals & standards.
6. To foster research as a function complementary to teaching.
7. To cultivate fraternal spirit amongst the teachers, administrators, industrialista & professionals.
8. To bring about effective linkage between technical institutions industry & society.
9.To arrange, institute & award appropriate fellowships, prizes, scholarships & stipends in furthering the objectives of the ISTE.
ACTIVITIES OF ISTE
The major activities of ISTE are :

2. Summer/Winter schools for engineering teachers & practicing engineers
3. Preperation of teacher-manuals & other instructional resource materials
4. Continuing education for workinf professionals in selected areas
5. Special short term industrial exposure programmes for teachers organised by industries in their premises
6. Seminars/workshops/conferences on topics of relevance of technical education
7. Computer education programmes
8. Project review & evaluation
9. Preparation of directories on technical education facilities/expertise
10. Publication of a bi-monthly ISTE Newsletter
11. Publication of a quarterly Indian journal of Technical Education
12. Publication of ISTE Handbook
13. Publication of learning materials in the area of Electronics & Computers.
14. Publication of various monograms.
