Read Some Poetry
We at Spectator have a number of longstanding traditions, and one of the most beloved of these is Salt. After the deadline for submissions has been passed, and the editors have dug in at the task of laying out and editing the magazine for publication, meetings take on a new form, and consequently, a new name: Salt. The name itself was originally derived from a short story bearing the same, written by Carolyn Fredericks, an editor in the days of yore.
Salt meetings can take any number of forms and are held in many diverse locations, but generally speaking they include at least a couple meetings dedicated to reading our favorite poetry, a couple dedicated to certain cult and classic films like
Harold and Maud, undoubtedly a few involving a frisbee, and one or two Starbucks type meetings on strange days where only two or three people show up.
