Community seed-banks have been established with the objective to conserve genetic diversity of the area and provide quality seed support to the member growers. At the same time, the farming community can use this bank as a general grain-bank to meet its day-to-day consumption needs during periods of scarcity.

Such banks are maintained by the community themselves.
