SERVICE RECORD

MAY 2376: Ryan enlists in the SFMC. He goes to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, North Carolina, Earth. He graduates top in his class, and is promoted to Private First Class (PFC). He selects 8541 (Scout-Sniper) as his MOS (Military Occupational Speciality).

AUG 2376: PFC Ryan reports to Coronado, California for Force Reconnaissance School.

MAR 2377: PFC Ryan graduates Force Recon School and is promoted to Lance Corporal (L/CPL). He requests assignment with 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment--ALPHA (1SFODA), which he receives.

DEC 2377: L/CPL Ryan, while on a training mission, rescues his team of 7 other people after a pack of explosives goes off. He is wounded, but refuses to be evacuated until all of his men have been taken care of and evacuated. He is promoted meritoriously to Corporal and awarded the Purple Heart for the wounds he received.

FEB 2378: CPL Ryan graduates 1SFODA training, 2nd in his class. From this point until when he is accepted into Star Fleet Academy, his record is sealed until 2699.

FEB 2380: SSGT Ryan is accepted into the Star Fleet Academy where he is put through an abbreviated training program. He is reassigned to Bravo Fleet Headquarters for final training evolutions.

ANALYSIS

Jack Ryan was orphaned when he was 2, and this has affected the rest of his life. He was adopted by a Marine Officer and his wife, who could not have children, and raised in a traditional Irish household. He is 73 inches tall, and weighs 200 pounds, all of it muscle. While he is occasionally extremely "hardcore", he can be caring and kind when he needs to be. He lived on Trill for a few years, and met Melissa Clark there. Because his adopted parents did not know when he was born, MAJ John Ryan decided to celebrate his son's birthday on the anniversary of the foundation of the United States Marine Corps, a unit Jack has studied in depth. He has found a role model for his leadership style in Lt Gen Lewis B. Puller, USMC (ret), a person he has read about extensively.
