You are "ALL" (members) invited to take part in the quilt challenge for 2006. This year's challenge is intended for all levels of quilters and we hope that we have 100% participation. Participating in such a challenge enables you to grow in your art of quiltmaking as well as enhances your self esteem. Make this a New Year's Resolution to participate in this challenge. Brenda and I have given this much thought and hope that you have as much fun participating in this as we had in planning this. Remember this year we have a quilt show and this will also enable you to take part in exhibiting your work in the show so that the community realizes that we have tallent!!!
We have a pattern and instruction to make a landscape using your flat iron and Heat n Bond. Your biggest challenge is to shop for the right fabric. (Now who doesn't like a reason to shop?) The only sewing required will be to attach a Binding and embellishing your landscape with embroidery or buttons, if desired.
This level requires you to make a table runner using a star pattern. We suggest the easy Ohio Star. (Here's a 9" Ohio Star) You can have as many stars as you want, and your choice of colors and fabric.
This level requires the quilter to make a quilted garment or an embellishment of a shirt, sweatshirt, skirt or what have you. A quilted bag will also be accepted.
Our challenge offers you many ways in which each one can participate and have something to display at the show in the fall. The participants can choose one level or you are welcome to participate in all three levels. We sincerely hope that this will encourage "ALL" of you to join in the fun.
The challenges will be due for "Show 'n' Tell" at the September, 2006 meeting where the non-participants will be required to judge the entries using their own criteria. Participants making garments will also be asked to take part in a fashion parade at the quilt show.
Have fun!!!
