Interests: Social
development; family processes; children’s development; developmental processes
in African-Americans and other ethnic groups; adolescent development including
adolescent childbearing; research ethics.
Academic Profile: Dr. Scott-Jones's current research projects focus on parental socialization, children’s ethnic identity and school engagement, and adolescent childbearing. She is a member of the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Successful Pathways through Middle Childhood. Dr. Scott-Jones is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society. She has served as Editor of the Journal of Research on Adolescence and currently serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of Social Issues and Urban Education. Dr. Scott-Jones is interested in research ethics and has served as a member of President Clinton’s National Bioethics Advisory Commission. She is currently Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Society for Research in Child Development.
