Physical Description: Mikalen stands at around 6ft tall. He is lean but muscular, possessing wiry strength developed from helping his father on the boats and with the catches. If you were to ask him what he thought his best feature was, he�d say his arms. They�re not overly-muscular, and that would indeed look strange on his lean body, but are strong and built. They are the kind of secure arms any girl would want to hold her at night.

His face is sort of oblong-shaped, and he has a chiseled jaw that many find very attractive. His nose is straight, despite it breaking once when Mikalen was younger. His eyes are a greenish-blue, azure colour, and have a darker ring around the outside of the iris. Mikalen has dark brown, almost black hair, which he keeps long, because a girl he liked in the hold said it looked best that way. It tends to fall into his eyes a lot, so he ties it back when he works.

Personality: When Mikalen was younger he was a friendly, confident child. He's still confident, but with adolesence he gained the weight of responsability and the drive of ambition. Mikalen will always act older than his age, due to his feelings that he should appear mature and responsable at all times. He is approachable by all means, but chooses his close friends wisely. He will only really open up when he has decided someone is trustworthy and loyal.

He jokes and laughs about most things, but takes his job (be it fisherman or dragonrider) very seriously. Sometime he appears distant and insensitive, but really he is compassionate. Many would say he was moulded that way by the constant strive to win his father's pride

Habits:Mikalen has a very noticeable habit. If someone asks for help, he can not refuse. His friends often tease him and call him Hero as a result. He also tends to win in gambling a lot, but loses his winnings almost instantly by betting them again. Despite being able to judge most things well, he just doesn't know when to stop.

Hobbies:Mikalen likes sport and betting, often combing the two. Surprising for a fisherman, he can ride well, and hopes to buy his own runner someday. He doesn't drink, only on special occasions.

History: Mikalen was born in Tillek Hold, and was very quickly introduced to a lifestyle of very hard work. To this day he feels the most dangerous craft on all Pern is fishing in the ocean. He quickly learnt great respect for the senior fisherman, like his father, and often compared them in bravery to dragonriders throughout his childhood. At the age of seven he suddenly gained a black canine. Finding the canine floating along in the flotsam and jetsam one day, near death, Mikalen named him Drifter.

Mikalen had a satisfactory childhood, with relationships with his parents that are standard to fisherman. His father addressed him always as �Boy�, and focused much of his attention on Mikalen�s older brother Ramirn. His mother was affectionate, and always talked to him like he was a man, in the aspiring hope that Mikalen would eventually win Dirmik�s attention. Hajalle favoured him because he was closer to her age than Ramirn. They often back eachother up on things, and have done since childhood.
At 12 turns he was made an apprentice fisherman, and at 18 became Journeyman. When he graduated up to that rank, he began to think it was inevitable that he would end up a Master Fisherman, and so donated Drifter to another family in the Hold.
