Your web site is very touching, and a wonderful tribute to your father and the many men and women who have served our country selflessly and courageously.
Reading and viewing your site is both humbling and inspiring. It causes me to remember a different era when duty, sacrifice, and honor were not just hollow words, but genuine values by which people lived.
My dad served in WWII and fortunately we still have him. My children (his grandkids) often find it hard to connect with his life, past, and stories, but I hope one day they will at least appreciate what he did, as I believe visitors to your dad's memorial web site do.
Good Luck in your search. In many ways, though, you are finding your dad by connecting our lives with his.
Blessings,
Ken Lee
Professor Ken! What beautiful words you have said. Sometimes just reading what is written here in my Guestbook, is fuel enough to keep me going. I appreciate that you took time to visit this site and sign the Guestbook. What we learn, weather in school, from war or from each other, will always have a lasting impact in searching out who we are and why we're here. You were a great teacher in providing inspiration, as well as motivation, in opening up a vast world of information resources in books and on the net. I can now take what I've learned and "run with it." God bless your father Professor Ken. I know that some day your children will know and honor his bravery. My sincerest thank you.

This is the first I have ever heard of this incident. I also am a Flight Engineer on B-747's. I was in the Air Force stationed in Europe at the time of this incident and maybe that's why I haven't heard about it. Thank you for keeping this alive!
This story headlined all the major newspapers on March 16th and 17th of 1962. This site is also for you George, and others who were not aware of this tradgedy.

Thank you for visiting and signing my Guestbook Melanie. You have a wonderful website in memory of your father too. I'm saddened that you were never given the chance to spend time with him. God must have a reason that we can't comprehend now, but will someday soon. I know it is difficult for you, and I feel your pain.

I think it is awesome that you have created this memorial to the crew and servicemen. I worked for FTL mid 70's to mid 80's and was searching for info on them when i came across your page. Sorry for your loss, and hope this helps to heal.
Thank you Ginny (?) for signing my Guestbook.

I wanted to personally thank all of those who have taken the time to sign my Guestbook. Many have come across this website who are familiar with this story, and have shared their insight freely while some still continue to withhold.
Others, viewing this site for the first time have told me how deeply moved they were. I am continually gratefull to all who have contributed to this website -- those who have inspired me to "never give up," and to those who have offered to help without reservation. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Name:Diane Pruner Hutson - 08/04/99 07:02:09
I read your message on Leigh Coleman Hotujec's guestbook for Ambrats. My father, Capt. William (Bill) R. Pruner, was shot down and brutally murdered while flying for Air America in Vietnam on 1/14/66. Coincidentally, he also worked for Flying Tiger Line Lockheed Terminal, in Los Angeles prior to being hired by Cummins Engine Company (based in Columbus, IN) as their chief pilot in the late '50s. I am a member of the Air America Association and, like you and so many others, have spent countless hours/days/years searching and researching for ANY info to help with my closure.
I would like to give you some words of encouragement: after I joined the Air America Association, I was contacted by several members who knew my dad and the very unfortunate circumstances surrounding his death. They have provided me with details, which although not pretty, were extremely helpful.
My mother (Dorothy Pruner) might remember your mom and dad from the old Flying Tiger days. Keep searching and linking. You'll be surprise at what comes up. Through vigilance and years of hard work by people who cared, Air America has been recognized as a REAL airline and there is a plaque memorializing the 242 crew members who gave their lives as civilians in the fight for freedom in Southeast Asia. DON'T GIVE UP!! I never thought it would happen myself. My deepest sympathy for your loss.
Thank you very much for signing my Guestbook, Diane. I am sorry to hear of your father's circumstances. My deepest sympathy to your family as well. You did encourage me...and we'll be talkin' soon.

Thank you Karyn. Your kind words have such insight and truth to them. Your friend in snairol (LOL), Cathy

Found your site most interesting. As a self appointed airline historian and ex-TWA mechanic and maintenence foreman I fully understand how doors are closed and material is falsified. The Japan Air Lines 747 that was lost reportedly because of a faulty repair to the pressure bulkhead is a huge coverup as is TWA 800. Thank you for preparing the site, information like this is quite valuable and ch
Thank you Mr. Groves. I know about what you are saying. It happens everyday. And it's sad, but true. Tried to visit your site, but unable to view it due to it's construction. Will try again soon.

I hear you! Sometimes all is not as it seems and sometimes it seems like all is not! The point is to give credit where it is due and never to forget those who fall victim to our errors. Forgive them, they never knew.
Thank you Roy. I believe that all involved knew, and in so doing, did not relaize that they tragically left us survivors to bear it all. To be honest, I'm not sure whose the victim.

Thank you very much Paul. I'm sure that you (more than anyone) can relate to the many years, personal sacrafices and struggling that goes into one's plight, when one puts all they have into their dream, while never giving up; to one day see their dream and vision come to light for the benefit of all! Thank you, Paul, for your invention of the Opitcal Disk. The whole world benefits from the sweat that went into your work. And to think that you were only recently recognized and given your rightful credit. You'll always be a dear friend Paul.

Just saw your website through a link on the FTL Pilot site. I was with Tigers in the simulator dept. from 1969 - 1983. My Dad Willard H. Hart was with the CAB (now NTSB) and did much of the aircraft records research on what he always refered to as "Guam missing" when we chated about this. I never saw any of his notes or records on this investagation, but his comments always made me feel like he put a lot of credability in the CIA being involved in shooting this Connie down. My best wishes and prayers go with you. I hope you can get to the bottom of this one day.

Thank you Jean. Me too.

Thank you for your work in putting this together. My grandfather was on this plane and I have very little knowledge about what happened. This has been very informative.
This site is also dedicated to your grandfather, Tonia. Hopefully, this will be resolved in my lifetime. If it isn't, your grandfather would want you to continue the fight on his behalf. NEVER give up!

I found your Web site after seeing your ad in the L.A. Times Classifieds under "Personal Messages." Your story is compelling and moving. I cannot imagine the double tragedy of not only losing a loved one, but not knowing exactly what happened to them. Thanks for sharing your story with the world, and I hope that your father and the other 106 men & women get the recognition they justly deserve.

I'm so proud of you, as Margarite would be -- if she were here to see all of your accomplishments and dreams that materialized! Love you.
