IMMIGRATION:  Magnus, Andrea, Emma, Olof, Amanda, and Anna departed Gothenberg (Gotenborg), Sweden for Hull, England on the ship Ariosto on November 27, 1891 under passenger number 787. The destination was recorded as Winnipeg, Canada. After arriving in England they boarded the ship S. S. Lord Clive and sailed from Liverpool, England to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, arriving on December 15 or 16, 1891. Olof was placed under quarantine for possibly typhoid fever. Emma stayed behind with him and the rest of the family went by train to Winnipeg.  Emma and Joe joined the family in Winnipeg and the family remained there until about 1899 when they moved to Little Falls, Morrison County, Minnesota. Sometime between 1900 and 1910, Magnus, Andrea, Amanda, and Anna went to Fruithurst, Alabama. Magnus became involved in a land deal that would give him farm land to own and operated but this did not work out financially. Magnus, Andrea, and Anna returned to Minnesota prior to 1910. Magnus and Andrea lived in the Bemidji, Minnesota area and lived in a log cabin along the Mississippi River and farmed. Magnus and Andrea are recorded in 1910 census in Frohn Twp, Beltrami County, Minnesota.

1910 Census with husband Charles Arnold: Shown as Myrtle; all other census records with parents she was listed as Anna.

Charley abandoned his wife and four children about 1921 or 1922. Later he returned to Bemidji, got custody of the children and on June 19, 1927, took the children to Ray, North Dakota. Shortly thereafter the family reunited.

In June 1929, Charley moved the family to Minot, North Dakota. He again left the family in 1930 or 1931 and returned to Ray, North Dakota until 1934 when he went to the State of Washington.

After Charley's final abandonment, Myrtle did not have any easy life trying to raise and support four children. From 1934 to June 1940, she worked as a cook, chamber maid, managed a school lunch program and held other miscellaneous jobs.

She moved to Salem, Oregon in 1941 to join son, George and live with him until he entered the military service in February 1943. She then went to work in the ship yards in Portland, Oregon until shortly after World War II. She then went to work as Floor Supervisor (housekeeper) for the United States National Bank in downtown Portland, Oregon. She retired in 1963 or 1964.
