Notes for IRWIN DALE ARNOLD:
Dale graduated from high school in 1933 and hitchhiked to Portland, Oregon where he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. Subsequently, he worked as a carpenter, painter and sales person until he entered the military service in 1943 or 1944. After his military service he returned to carpenter work and then purchased a fishing camp on Lake Merwin, East of Woodland, Washington. He stayed in this business until he death in 1976.

Notes for GEORGE PHILLIP ARNOLD:
George left Bemidji, Minnesota after his second school year with is father. At an early age, 14 or 15, he was a "Buck Private" in Company "D", 164th Infantry of the North Dakota National Guard. George finished high school in Minot, North Dakota. In June 1937 he went to Portland, Oregon looking for work. He joined his dad as a carpenter and painter. In August 1938 he returned to Minot and enrolled at Minot State Teachers College and worked part time in a grocery store. He ran out of money and became a grocery meat cutter on a full time basis.
After being laid off in January 1941, George purchased a ticket for the West Coast and went to work for Safeway stores in February 1941. He was promoted to meat manager. On February 13, 1943, he entered the Army at Fort Lewis, Washington as a draftee. Later in February he went to the U. S. Army Air Corps, joined the Aviation Cadet Corps in June 1943 and was sent to Elon College, North Carolina for six months training. The pilot training did not go well and he graduated from Bombardier-Navigator School on April 19, 1945.
George retired from the Air Force on July 1, 1966 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After working one year with the U. S. Department of Agriculture, he resigned and went to work with the Georgia Department of Education until October 1, 1981 when he retired at the age of 62.
