| A Potential Time Frame for The Twenty-one Sons of Nancy CHUNN and William Henry KILLEBREW |
| It is said that my Gr-Gr-Gr-Grandmother, Nancy CHUNN, was a Native American. The Nation of her ancestors is only one of the many mysteries that surround the darkness of her existence. Some believe that she was born into the Cherokee Nation, others proclaim she was from the Choctaw Nation. [Part one of "The Puzzle".] One scenerio is that Nancy was not even born a CHUNN, but was instead married to a Mr. Chunn prior to her marriage to my Gr-Gr-Gr-Grandfather, William Henry KILLEBREW. I tend to believe that this is a definite possibility, and it would certainly help explain why I have not been able to fit her into any of the CHUNN family branches that I have researched so far. I have quite a lot of information on the CHUNN families, and she doesn't appear in any of them. [Part two of "The Puzzle".] The things that I have proof of about Nancy is that she was supposedly born in NC, according to the 1850 Federal Census of Kentucky, in 1816 and that she died in 1863 in Calloway County, Kentucky and is buried in the Asbury Cemetery there. By all accounts, Nancy was the Mother of twenty-one boys. That information is inscribed on her tombstone. It is believed that all of the sons were single births, though I really find this hard to believe. [Part three of "The Puzzle".] In composing my Time Frame below, I find that it is almost impossible for there not to have been some multiple births somewhere along the line. I say this because I have records that indicate that Levi Butler KILLEBREW proclaimed himself to be the 16th son and if that is true, then there are just too few years between the births of my Gr-Gr-Grandfather, John Rasmas KILLEBREW, and his brother, Levi Butler, for there not to have been multiple births at some point. [Part four of "The Puzzle".] If there is anyone out there in cyberworld that can fill in any of the missing pieces of "THE PUZZLE", I would love to hear from you! Please email me at the link below. |
