Amie Kodansha
Monthly on the 7th of every month. 430 Yen or $8.00 Au and up
Sadly Amie is no longer going to be published, but I thought I'll include it just for fun. This mag is meant to be the next step up after the readers finished with Nakayoshi, a well known magazine by Kodansha aimed for the younger readers. The quality of the stories are high and it published the work of some of the most well known mangaka around, so it's a bit of a shock when they decided to shut this one down.

This has to be one of the most difficult magazine to get a hold of, it took me ages to hunt it down then cornering it before snatching and paying it. This magazine specialises in fantasy and other off the planet type of plot line. The stories are unpredictable with the oddest twist and turns which keeps you flipping through just to see what the hell it's all about. The drawing style is not as "pretty" as Ribbon or Margaret, but it engagingly dynamic.

Be Love Kodansha
Published on the 1st and 15th of every month. Contains some of my favorite authors. They usually involve issues about domestic married life, relationship and sometimes pets. There are two series that I'm still following in this mag, one is the Piku Piku Sentaro, which you can see on the cover the other is anything by Shoji Yoko.
The cover for this particular issue was done by Menoura Tsubasa and features Sentaro the rabbit and Miya the cat.

Bessatsu Furendo Special Edition Friend Kodansha
Monthly on the 13th of every month. 310 Yen which translates to $7.50 +.
It's pretty well known in the industry, and you may see some artists from Amie such as Yasunaga Kei working on this mag. Frankly I don't find any of the stories they're publishing right now are very interesting, but you never know.

Lala Hakusensha
Out monthly on the 24th. 370 Yen so it's 7.70 + in AU
I'll recommend buying this mag just to read Kanata Kara by Hikawa Kyoko, but there are other reasons for wanting to continue buying Lala. It contains some very unusual writers and plot, plenty of relationship type of story with a dash of romance and a sprinkle of angst.Plus I also get the impression that it contains more story from the guy's perspective than other magazines.

Ueda Rinko |
I loved Ueda Rinko and Ryo, the current story by her is published in this magazine. It has some well known cult favorites such as Hana Yori Dango and Bronze by Minami Ozaki. The over all style are mature with more empasis towards relationship rather than adventure type stories.
