Chapter 25 The next morning I awoke to the sound of someone pounding on the door of Dee and Kevin's coach. I wandered to the door and pushed it open, trying to blink away the sunlight to see who my human alarm clock was. "Yes?" I asked Shane, a little grumpy. "I need you" he said. I shook my head to see if I heard him right. "Huh?" I asked. Look we have mad work to do on that car and almost all of my guys have food poisoning from supper last night. I sighed, knowing that he needed my help.
Lemme change I said, walking back into the coach. I grabbed my clothes and went into the bathroom to change. I came back out and threw on my tennis shoes.
Shane had the golf cart parked out front; I hopped on and held on to the side bar. *******
Thank you so much Shane said, dropping me off at the front of the coach. Not a problem I paused hopefully your boys get better before the race. Shane smiled, They probably will be, i'm more worried about how I am going to pay you back for this. Let me take you out to dinner. I hesitated, I cant go to dinner with Shane, I thought to myself.
Shane obviously saw the look of doubt on my face. He spoke quietly, Only as friends. I agreed, still unsure about the situation. Shane and I both needed showers so we decided to meet at his coach in an hour.
I quickly showered and started getting ready. I laid out three outfits. Why the hell am I being so picky?!?! I said aloud to myself. Its JUST Shane. I decided on a pair of Khaki Capris and a spaghetti strap tank top.
I was in the bathroom doing my make up when I heard the front door of the coach open and close. Damn boy I thought I was meeting you at your place I hollered, chucking to myself.
Dee surprised me when she popped her head into the bathroom. Who? she asked, an evil smirk on her face. I sighed Shane. Dees eyes all but bugged out of her head. Youre going out with Shane?!? she asked, shocked. I nodded, continuing to put on my mascara. How did this happen? I thought you two were just going to be friends she asked.
I shrugged my shoulders and gave myself one last look. We are going to be friends, I did him a favor today and this is my payment I answered, picking my purse up off the couch. Dee snickered, Well I guess I will see you tomorrow she said. I looked at her, not exactly knowing what she meant. You will see me when I get home tonight, unless you and Kev are going out
Dee laughed at my bewilderment. I mean that I wont see you tonight, that you wont be home, that you will be at Shanes she rattled off her list of explanations. I rolled my eyes and gave her a friendly push.
I walked through the coaches, stopping when I heard Jr call my name. Hey you he said, catching up to me. Hi I replied, still walking. Where ya going? he almost had me convinced he didnt know. I cocked my eyebrow. Ok Ok Ok he said, putting his hands up in a defensive motion. Shane told me, so, yall going to get back together? he asked, playfully making kissy noises. I chuckled and shook my head no. Jr walked me to the front of Shanes coach. One last thing, he loves you. I know he does, he didnt mean to do it. I rolled my eyes and opened the door to the coach.
I walked up the stairs and heard the water on in the bathroom. Shane? I said cautiously, not wanting him to walk out naked. Well it would be a nice sight I said to myself. I chuckled at my little comedic performance in my head.
I was snapped out of my musing by Shane coming out of the bathroom. Whatcha laughing at? he asked. Nothing I answered, turning a little red. Half naked isnt bad I thought to myself as the last part of his stomach was covered by his shirt. Shane threw his shirt over his head and tucked it in.
Ready he asked, grabbing his keys off the hook by the door. I nodded and followed him out the door.
We got to the parking lot; Shane walked around and opened the door for me. He hopped in and started the rented vehicle. Where are we going? I asked. Shane smirked Its a surprise he simply stated.
We drove a few miles and pulled into the parking lot of Hibachi Japanese Steak House. I smiled; I guess he remembered how much I loved Japanese.
He got out of the truck and opened my door for me, locking it after I climbed out. We walked to the restaurant and he opened the door, guiding me in by the small of my back. His touch sent a chill down my body. This will be interesting I said to myself as the waitress showed us to our table. |
