Chapter 4

Hey I said, adjusting my jacket. Hi he said back, taking a step inside the door and closing it. I hadnt seen Kasey since the night he told me about him and his fiance breaking it off, the night he kissed me. There was a silence for a moment. Im not here to pressure you into coming, I just wanted to see you he said, his quiet voice almost too much to handle.

I wanted so bad to run to him and have him hold me; kiss me, like he did that night. Restraint I said to myself in my head. Well thank you for the invitation. I still am unsure about my weekend. I said. Your secretary says youre free he said taking a step closer. Shay what are you scared of? he asked.

Damn I knew I couldnt keep this from him too long, Kasey knows me too well. Its easier to hide your emotions when you have a phone and 3,000 miles away from each other. I dont know I said looking away. Kasey walked the few more steps towards me and wrapped his arms around. God this feels good I said to myself.

He pulled away and looked at me. No not the eyes I thought. What is it Shay? he asked. Kase, when I was in college and you were in Carolina it was so hard. We fought everyday, we were miserable together. I said. Kasey nodded, I know, but we are much more mature than we were before. I mean eventually it might grow into whatever we want it to be. He said.

I sighed; it was at that moment that I let all of my thoughts go. Alright I said smiling. Kasey smiled, the corner of his lip curling up. He again, wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him. Alright, I will pick you up at the airport when you come. Just make sure you call me and tell me when your plane comes in he said. Kasey leaned down and kissed me on the cheek. I felt them redden as I backed away. As quickly as he showed up in my office, he was gone.

I spent all day Wednesday and Thursday at work, anxiously awaiting Friday morning. My secretary had helped me reschedule all of my appointments for Friday.

My plane was scheduled to leave about 6:15 Friday morning. I woke up at 2 a.m., too excited to sleep. I had already packed everything I would need the day before so I spent an hour or so sitting on the couch watching infomercials about some kitchen appliance.

I finally decided to head out to the airport. I got into my truck and drove the 30 minutes to Seattle. Stopping at Starbucks to get coffee along the way. I quickly made way into the airport, making sure I checked my bags. I boarded the plane and sat in my seat, laying my head back as all the other passengers boarded.
