�Danny wait!� Kat yelled as he unlocked the door of his car. Danny either did not hear her or chose to ignore her. She got to the car just before he drove off, opening the passenger door and jumping in. �Get out� he said, stopping the car. Kat shook her head no �Not until you hear what I have to say� she said. �All I want to know is why, that�s all� he asked through clenched teeth.
Kat sighed and sat back, she had never told Danny anything about her past. To him, she was Melissa. She knew that right this moment wasn�t the time to tell him. �I don�t know why, and frankly I have no idea what is happening� she said quietly, unable to look at him. �You know what, neither do I. So how about you DON�T call me when you figure things out for yourself� he said, leaning over to open the passenger side door. Kat didn�t know if she should go, after all, she had fallen in love with Danny the moment she met him.
Reluctantly, Kat got out of the car, watching Danny drive off she felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She stood there, even after he had left just letting the tears roll down her cheeks.
Kat jumped when she felt a pair of hands snake around her waist. �You ok?� Kasey�s voice asked. All Kat could do was nod, she needed to tell Kasey. She turned around, still in his arms and began to explain everything. Kat explained how when she met Danny he made her feel like she was the only one in the world and how they had clicked so well. Kasey was letting everything sink in, he wasn�t sure if he should stay or go. �I don�t know what to say, I mean, I just got my best friend back and now�� Kasey trailed off. �Kase, you aren�t going to lose me. I mean for the longest time I would dial your number and hang up because I wanted to tell you so bad about everything. And now that you know I am not letting us lose out friendship again� Kat said, backing out of his arms.
Kasey sighed, somewhere in his heart he had wanted his friendship to develop into something more. �C�mon Kahne, lets go inside� Kat grabbed his hand and drug him into the house.

Kat sat on the back porch, looking out at the night sky. She had called Danny as soon as Kasey had fallen asleep. She rubbed her temples, her head throbbing from the insane amount of crying she had done.
�Danny i'm sorry� Kat said in between sobs. �Save it Melissa, it just isn�t worth it anymore. You knew how I felt about cheaters and what do you go out and do? You kiss, wait a minute, you cheat on me. I am not going to say kiss because for all I know you have just finished having sex with the kid.� Kat knew that Danny had every right to be angry, but now his words were just turning into ones of pure hurt. �Whatever I should have never wasted my time on you anyways� he said, his voice calming. �Fine if that�s how you feel, like it was all one big waste of time then Fuck you too�. Those were the last words she spoke to him. After she hung up she sat on the porch, her head in her hands and cried.
�Hey� Kasey said, walking through the sliding glass door. He still looked half asleep, his hair poofy. When he sat down next to her, he immediately turned to face her. �Did you call him?� he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. �Yeah and it went horribly, but you know what? After some of the things he was saying to me, he can just go on anyways. I don�t need that in my life� Kat said, still not looking at Kasey. �Good� Kasey thought, as he watched Kat play with the bracelet on her wrist. �God tell me you don�t still have that thing� Kasey said, really noticing it for the first time. Kat smiled as she looked at the bracelet Kasey had given her so many years before. �Yup I kept it, never take it off actually�. Kasey chuckled and thought back to the day he had given it to her.
�Happy Birthday� Kasey said, handing Kat a wrapped box. �Well I know what job you DON�T have in your future� she joked, noticing the wrapping job Kasey had done. �Don�t pick or else i�m taking it back� Kasey said, feigning like her comment hurt him. Kat took off the paper and opened up the box �Oh Kahne it�s so pretty� she said, taking the gold bracelet out. �Yeah I figured you would like it� he smiled, and helped her put it on her wrist. Kat shook the bracelet as she admired it. �Thanks Kase, it really is pretty� she said hugging him.
�Earth to Kasey� Kat said, waving her hand in front of his face. �Sorry� he said, looking over to her. Kat just shook her head; Kasey had always been such a space cadet. �Alright, I know that if you are going to race tomorrow you need sleep. And I need sleep so I can watch you on TV. So let�s go� Kat said, standing up and holding out her hand for Kasey to grab. He followed her inside and stopped in front of the couch �Pillows? Blanket?� he asked, watching her walk towards her room. �Yeah I have them, on my bed��. Come on� was all she said. Kasey followed her into her room, shutting the door behind himself.
