Personal goals in the classroom.

If you were to enter into my classroom and compare it to any of the other English classrooms in the school, you would see that the students in both classrooms are being exposed to the same concepts. The only differences you would find would be some of the cultural aspects and the different language used. In my classroom, I try to base learning on the thoughts and actions of the students instead of controlling them. It is my responsibility to set up an atmosphere in the classroom that is open and stimulating and that gives the students an abundance of opportunities to interact with their peers and with different interesting materials. Once the child is comfortable in this environment, the need for communication will come naturally. He will want to discuss his feelings and his ideas about his discoveries and his actions. The students understand that both languages can be used in the classroom and that both are accepted and respected. Because of this, they do not have to wait to control the language before learning. Language in the classroom is based on the work and play around them. Once the students are exposed to a routine in the language and they feel comfortable with it, they feel safe to venture out and use it themselves. Learning of the language comes naturally and without fear.

My personal goals in the classroom are:
  1. To encourage every student to achieve his/her maximum potential.
  2. To expose the students to a variety of learning styles, encouraging critical thinking.
  3. To allow the learner to take a personal active role in learning by means of student-centered activities.
  4. To cultivate appreciation for our own ethnic identity and traditions.
  5. To cultivate appreciation and respect for the cultures of people who are different from us.
  6. To become good citizens of our community, our country and the global society.
Metas personales en el sal�n de clases.

Si usted fuese a a entrar a mi sal�n de clase y compararlo con cualquier otro de los salones donde se ense�a en ingles, usted ver�a que los alumnos de ambas clases est�n expuestos a los mismos conceptos. La �nica diferencia ser�a algunos de los aspectos culturales y el idioma. En mi sal�n, trato de basar la ense�anza en los pensamientos y las acciones de los alumnos, en vez de controlarlas. Es mi responsabilidad crear un ambiente en el sal�n que es abierto y estimulante y que da a los alumnos oportunidades abundantes de interactuar con sus compa�eros y con materiales interesantes. Cuando el alumno se sienta comfortable en este ambiente, la necesidad de communicarse vendr� en forma natural. Los alumnos entienden que se puede usar ambos idiomas en el sal�n y que los dos ser�n aceptados y respetados. As�, no tendr�n que esperar hasta que tengan un control del lenguage para poder aprender. El lenguage dentro del sal�n se basa en el trabajo y en los juegos que ellos realizan. Una vez que los alumnos est�n expuestos a una rutina en el lenguage, se sentir�n agustos para tratar de usarlo ellos mismos. El aprendizaje del lenguage viene en forma natural y sin miedo.

Mis metas personales en el sal�n de clases son:
  1. Fomentar el �nimo en cada estudiante para que alcance su potencial m�ximo.
  2. Exponer a los estudiantes a una variedad de estilos de ense�anza.
  3. Permitir que el alumno tome un papel activo en su propio aprendizaje mediante actividades motivados por ellos mismos.
  4. Fomentar una apreciaci�n por su propia identidad y sus tradiciones �tnicos.
  5. Fomentar una apreciaci�n y respeto hacia las culturas de personas que son distintas a nosotros.
  6. Llegar a ser buenos ciudadanos de nuestra comunidad, de nuestro pa�s y de la sociedad mundial.
