Joined Lucent Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. in the year 2004 after completing my BTech in Information Technology. I work as a part of the development team of an Element Management System (EMS) that managed the elements of a CDMA 2000 network via the SNMP and CORBA protocols. The experience in the company was greatly instrumental in enriching and polishing my skills in various domains and this was a result of some of the key responsibilities conferred on my shoulders.

Responsibilities:

·         Development of various features of various releases of the product. The work bettered my coding skills and style. To highlight, the upgrade feature of the product was owned and solely developed by myself and was successfully deployed at customer site.

·         Bug-Fixing for the product, which augmented my debugging skills. Study of huge trace files to point and shoot the bugs was a crucial part of the role which also lent deep understanding of the product-component interactions and data/control flow

·         Deployment Escort: Was responsible for providing hot fixes with promptest action for bugs reported at deployment site.

·         Adherence to the quality standards and practices of Lucent Technologies. This included coding practices, code reviewing, designing of implementation (HLDs and LLDs), versioned controlling of files/documents

·         Training of new recruits. Superior skills in supervising and clarifying details to other.

·         Conducting and attending review meetings. This has made me much more organized and focused in my work so as to achieve fruitful results.

Feb’04-Jun’04, part of the 8th semester curriculum of the BTech course. I was into the development and quality engineering of the product Quark Publishing System 3.0. The period intended to give a detailed exposure to the industry standards and processes related to the complete development life cycle. It also gave hands-on experience to good coding practices, automation, API testing using TestHarness, etc.

·         Junior Project Assistant, APTECH-IIIT-A-DSIR Joint Project

Sep’03-Feb’04. 14 students from IIIT-A and a small guiding team from APTECH India. The project deliverable included development of a complete suite for web-based education. The project played a key role in providing a platform for the implementation of the n-tier architecture in J2EE.

·         Summer Intern, divine India Ltd., Hyderabad

Period of 1 and half months. Development of a web-based solution for a client (dealing with stock-exchange). The period gave a first hand exposure to the software industry. The project imparted practical experience to the software development cycle from analysis to the final deployment of the proposed solution using the J2EE n-tier architecture.

Abstract: The project, acquired from the student project listing for the year 2003, posted on the HP Labs, Bristol website, was a research initiative in the field of Semantic Web. It involved the inculcation of functionality of TAP into Jena - 2 renowned open-source APIs in the field of Semantic Web for remote querying and inferring local data respectively. Final deliverables included enhanced Jena API with remote querying ability, a technical paper on the effort, various demo programs.

Embedding Linux into a PDA

Duration: Feb 2003 - May 2003

Skills Required/Acquired: cross-compiling, kernel porting, Linux development APIs

Abstract: The initial phase of this project involved the porting of the Linux kernel and other important libraries into a StrongARM processor based Compaq iPAQ. The next phase involved development of a suite of small, test programs based on the standard Linux development APIs and demonstrating the breadth of functionalities provided like threads, signals, semaphores, mutexes, Curses, message queue and pipes. The central objective of this phase was to test the stability and proper functioning of the ported libraries.

Abstract: The project, acquired from divine India Ltd., comprises of three principal components - a database management/configuration toolkit, a suite of groupware modules and a project management module. The outcome was gaining of first-hand experience in developing and deploying software solutions on the J2EE platform and also an experience in implementing enterprise-wide solutions for a real-world corporate scenario. The second phase involved the development of a groupware suite comprising of various modules including a discussion forum, shared project workspace (conceptually, a distributed Java-based, hence portable, CVS) and a calendar-cum-scheduler. The final phase involved the construction of a project-management module based on PERT.

"Eng00" - A 3D Game Engine

Abstract: A 3D Game Engine for the FPS (First-person shooter) genre of games. The engine deliverable was a reusable class-library of modules that would package and abstract the basic features essential to a game programmer. Two components of the DirectX library - DirectSound and DirectInput, were also employed to create the Sound and Input modules, respectively. Apart, the engine included the modules - Generic Math Routines, Lighting, Image Handler, Texture Mapping, Environment Mapping, Terrain Rendering, .md3 Model Handler, Sound, Enhanced Input, Timer, Collision Detection and Fonts/Text. Also, we developed a suite of demo programs for the testing and demonstration of the functionality of each module.

Client Communication through Authentication Server

Abstract: We implemented the communication two clients through an authentication server as per the specifications of RFC912 and RFC931. The basic components are authentication, session key distribution and 3-way handshaking between server-client and client-client pairs. RFC2313 and RFC2437 were referred to for the RSA Encryption Algorithm to encrypt the authentication and communication messages of the server and the client.
