My Santas

I used to do a lot of sewing and crafts before I discovered Psp and Incredimail. I loved to make old fashioned Santas as gifts and to sell. I used a lot of recycled materials to make them. Some items were made from family members clothing to make them more special.

Santa with a White CoatThis is one I made for myself. He has a white wool coat made out of a recycled ladies coat. I used a pair of men's grey wool pants to make a pair for Santa. His vest is tapestry witha little button pocket watch with real gold chain going from watch to his vest buttons. I trimmed his coat with tapestry material and then with brown fur. His hat was made of tapestry and fur. His boots were made from a piece of vinyl. he holds a Vicorian Rose trimmed wreath in his hand. Every Christmas he sits in his spot under my oval mirror in the hallway from where he can oversee the holiday festivites..

This one was made for my daughter Tina. He sits on a handmade sleigh that has tole painting on it. His boots are made of old rabbit fur with suede soles. The pants and hooded jacket are made of Victorian Rose colored Velvet. He has a rope attached to the sleigh for steering made out of dusty rose and burgundy roses with evergreen garland. I had a lot of fun making him. for her for her birthday in Novemeber so she would have him for Christmas decorating in December.

Santa With Antique PenThis Santa was made for our daughter-in-law Sarah. He is sitting in a large wicker chair. He was made for her from many articles of clothing that belonged to her dad. He is wearing soft velvet nickers with a white shirt made from her dad's old shirt. The tiny buttons were from her grandmother's button box. His knickers have gold buttons at the cuff. His slippers are trimmed with gold buttons as well. The socks were made from a pair of her dad's socks that had holes in them. The pen he is holding belonged to her grandfather's sister.

Red Santa in a ChairThis Santa is much like Sarah's except he has red knickers. His slippers are made of black satin with large gold button trim. He had an old fashioned rocking horse toy beside his chair. He was made to sell. No two Santas were ever made alike. I was always on the look-out for interesting little accesories to add to my Santas so each would have his own special "look". I especially liked to work with velvets.

Santa with Tapestry Coat and SleighThis Santa had a coat made out of a rich tapestry material that was recyled from upholstery material that was like new. He had a white satin gown under his coat. In his hand he held a wooden sleigh. I liked to collect roses in Victorian colors for my long coated Santas. I am especially fond of roses in burgundy and dusty rose. Gold accents seemed to set the Victorian look off. Fur added to the richness of the long coats.

Santa with Green CoatThis Santa was dressed in a deep rich green velvet coat with a gold gown under it. On his back is a pack filled with greenery, Burgandy and dusty rose colored roses with gold leaves. In his hand is a staff trimmed with roses, gold leaves and a string of gold beads tied into a bow.

Santa with a Rose CoatThis Santa had a Victorian Rose colored coat on with white fur trim.He had a back pack filled with twigs and buds, roses and pearl beaded bows. The Santas always had to be dressed right to the bottoms of their feet. Some had leather boots. Still others had fur boots.
