My name is Nadia Snow. Some would call me a singer-songwriter, but I am far more than just a woman and her guitar. I grew up in the sheep filled counrtyside of Pahiatua, New Zealand, carrying my guitar on the back of my bicycle to school each morning. I was typical in my teenage angst but thankfully chose to express it through music. Early on I was scolded for "hitting the guitar" which ironically became a signature of my technique, embraced as a means to add rhythmic sensibility to my performances. I always felt my place was onstage, and as a teenager I decided to take my talents to the international stage and relocated to the land of opportunity, America. Within 2 years I had performed over 400 times and my skills were affording me radio interviews and airplay (KHUM, KHSU, KMUD), main stage festival slots, and five shows a week. My schedule was so full that one Northern Californian journalist dubbed me "Humboldt County's hardest working musician". I find people of all kinds are deeply affected by my music. I choose to write about life through the eyes of individuals who don't need life handed to them on a platter. In life, hearts inevitably get broken, leaving good sense in a shroud of pain. Drug abuse is targeted heavily as an offender in The States, yet isn't fear of terror our country's fatal addiction? People buy my CD's and listen to my music for many reasons. I like to use my voice as an instrument to soothe, unite and sometimes arouse the listener; they always come back for more. My passion for the guitar drives me into percussive rhythms, poly-chordal textures that my audience finds both entertaining and moving. I am sometimes labeled as Emo-Folk, but meet me in a band setting and I will definitely Rock you. My path has led me back to California where I am currently settling in to a life of band auditions, new faces, and live acoustic shows. Fans be urged to leave some nights free on your calendar as I will be performing in several new bands, though I am always finding time for those intimate acoustic shows for those fans who prefer 'the girl and her guitar'. |
