About Us
Kick-Start Cardio is a fitness provider for the Lower Mainland communities. Inspite of Kick-Start Cardio was founded in 2005 in response to members of the medical community who were finding it difficult to fit exercise into their demanding schedules. In our first full year of operations, we delivered classes at six different sites for Fraser Health, including New Westminster, Burnaby, Maple Ridge and Abbotsford.
Owned and operated by Denise Walker, RN, and Jason Kurylo, Kick-Start Cardio prides itself on personalized service; our participants are not just numbers to us. We also promise to only hire committed, qualified instructors who are not just doing a job; they care about each member of the class, and focus on teaching proper technique and positioning.
Denise has over 16 years of experience in the fitness industry, while Jason has 18 years of experience in the promotion of amateur collegiate athletics. Combined, they have nearly 15 years of teaching experience, in the gym on the field and in the classroom.
Kick-Start Cardio classes are designed for a mixed level of athletic ability. (Don’t get me wrong... We are happy to run an elite course if you have a sports team or dedicated bunch of jock friends; with a group of 10 or more, we’ll be happy to customize a session for your needs.) Whether you currently run every morning in training for a triathlon, or haven’t moved from behind your desk in the past 20 years, we’ll help you find the fun in a new routine.
Our goal is to encourage participants and their families to seek information and education for themselves in the fields of fitness, nutrition and wellness. We don't believe in selling products just for the sake of merchandising; we will endeavour, however, to provide solid informational links and suggested reading lists, as well as attempt to partner with quality companies and professionals who share our outlook. With apologies to Confuscius, if we tell a person to do a sit up, they exercise for a day; if we show a person how to do a sit up (and inculcate proper technique and positioning), they’ll exercise for a lifetime.
We ask our participants to make goals that are specific, reasonable and measurable. We then ask them to 1) write it down, 2) tell their friends and family, and 3) challenge themselves to create opportunities, rather than embrace excuses. Everyone is crunched for time. Everyone has stress. What you choose to do in reaction to those situations is up to you. Don’t make even one more excuse – you deserve more than that. Call today!
