Congratulations to our First Half Champs - John Thomas & Wendy Kellogg After an off week, Wendy & John did not want to leave their fate in anyone else's hands. They started off strong, winning 3 of the first 4 holes. Cal & James came back to narrow the gap to 4-3 when Cal had a par on #7, but John & Wendy were too strong and won the last 2 holes. John Thomas had a great night with the low actual (40) and a par on #4. As it turned out they had to win this match to win the first half. Nice job Wendy & John. They needed to win because of a strong 1st half finish by Mike & Bob. This week Mike didn't take any chances and arranged a business trip for Bob Byrne. Mike brought in GQ model and PGA pro (?) Nick Razzi, and they were magic together. They hit a combined 59 net as a team and blew away Tony & Mark. Mike tied for low actual score of the week. We missed Dan Chess this week, but our prayers were with him and his family after the loss of his father. Subbing for Dan was Bob Kearney's wife Kathi. Having her there was obviously good for his game as he had his low for the year, a 41. This was enough for him to have the week's low net with a 28. Kathi had a par on #9. As for Ted and Scott it was an off night, but the surprise of the night was the sight of Ted walking the course and carrying his clubs. Way to go, Ted! Another hot player was Bernard, who also had his low score of the year with a 46. He had the shot of the night, chipping in from the left grass bunker, arcing his shot into the hole on #5. He and Ed won big against Skip Mahnke, who was playing alone without a sub this night. In the only close match of the night Adrian and sub Tony Lee edged out Lorraine and her sub Carl Morse. In this match Lorraine & Carl won 4 of the first 5 holes. However Adrian & Tony came back to win the final 4 holes and the victory. In the other match Lynne and sub John Vergo went on a roll for a big win vs. Chris and Colm. John, who has played every week this year, had a par on #9. So on to the second half. It's hard to believe we are halfway there. Who will face John & Wendy in the league championship? Let's begin play and find out. As for the weather, the 1st half was indeed the bad half with off- weather in 6 out of 8 weeks. The long range forecast for Thursday? As of Sunday they are calling for a high of 79 and evening rain. Ugh! Low Actual Score: Mike Dobransky and John Thomas with 40s Low Net Score: Bob Kearney with a 28. Hardest Hole: #4 at 2.1 over par. Easiest Hole: #7 & #8 at 1.0 over par.
